"Something is up, Ariel"

"What do you mean, Aquamarine?"

"You've stopped singing and all you do now is seek comfort in your room staring out at the coral reefs"

"Well, I have so many thoughts. I'm traumatised by that specific event that occurred last night"

Aquamarine sat next to Ariel who was perched at her bedroom window. She looked into Ariel's Green eyes with genuine concern.

"I know what's up with you!" Aquamarine gasped in excitement, "You're in love!"

Ariel had heard about love before. She has always longed for being loved and able to love. But with her terrifying flaw, it seemed impossible.

Could it be that she has finally found someone who loved her and who could love her in return? She recalled the way the Prince looked at her the night she met him. And how he was staring out at the ocean from his balcony somewhat deep in thought.

Maybe he was thinking about her? She wasn't very sure.

"Oh, Aqua! Can you keep a secret?"

Aquamarine squealed, "oh! It was one of the men who held you captive wasn't it?"

"There's something else I must tell you"

"Yes, go on!"

"I really didn't get held captive" Ariel dropped her voice in case someone was listening into the conversation "I saved a Prince from drowning and now I think he's in love with me!"

"Oh, how wonderful! Such a perfect love story!"

"But he would never be with me!"

"It's because you eat people like him, isn't it?"

"Yes! Also because they have something I don't! It's two tails!"

"Can I request to see this boy first before I tell you how you can become like them?"

                                                                      ***************

It was in the late afternoon when two mermaid princesses rose to the surface and swam towards the kingdom of the Prince. The two mermaids hid behind two large rocks and looked up at the Prince who was still perched on the balcony looking out at the ocean below him.

"Oh! He's so handsome! A perfect fit for you!" Aquamarine exclaimed "it's a shame that you two aren't already married!"

"It's a shame, really. I can never be with him. I don't have two tails and I don't think I ever will!"

"But you can, dear sister! Go to the deepest part of the ocean and there you shall stumble across a tiny cave"

"The sea enchantress? Oh, Father will be furious!"

"But he will never know!" Aquamarine said "I won't tell him where you have been. After your wedding day, I shall tell him all of your affair with the Prince!"
