"SISSY, WAKE UP!!! IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!!!!" My sister, Skye, came into my room screaming, waking me up from a good dream. To say I was pissed was an understatement. But it's okay because I have the cutest sister in the world. She always cheers me up without trying. The upset feeling would only last a second with her in my life.
Opening my eyes, I saw Skye was only inches away from my face with the biggest smile plastered onto her face. She was the cutest. She made me want to have children of my own. Someday.
"Morning, kiddo. How'd you sleep?" I asked my sister.
"I didn't. I was up all night thinking about my birthday. I'm so excited." She replied.
"I bet. Well, I have one of your presents in my closet if you want to go grab it while I wake up Grayson." I told her.
Skye didn't even reply before jumping to my closet to grab her present. I told her to head to the living room, where Grayson and I would be soon, to open it together, as the little family that we are.
Grayson is my boyfriend. He only lives a few doors down, but chooses to sleepover at my house and keep my sister and I company. Ever since my parents were murdered, it has been hard for him to leave us by ourselves. Especially since the case was never solved. He likes to think he can protect us from predators. So, he chose to live here with us.
I looked over to my right side, where Grayson was fast asleep. I rolled over on top of him, my face to his, and leaned into his lips. Before I could reach him completely, he lifted his head to where my lips would meet his.
"Oh, you're awake," I said, "good morning, babe."
"Good morning. You're adorable in the morning, you know? I could stay here with you all day."
"I think Skye might kill us if we did." I replied, giggling. Grayson started laughing along with me. I reached my lips towards his once more, and we stayed like that for a few seconds before Skye barged in my room, once again.
"Are you lazy people going to get up or what? We have things to do, get a move on." Skye had said. She was so excited for this day to finally be here, she could hardly contain it.
"Yes, yes, we're coming," Grayson said with the word 'coming' dragged out.
"You guys go ahead, I'll be there in a second," I told them.
Grayson got out of bed and picked up Skye and took her out of the room, both giggling. They were too cute for my own good. I got up out of bed and went to brush my teeth. While in the bathroom, I decided to wash my face and brush my hair as well. Finishing up in the bathroom, I heard the squirts calling me out of my room. After grabbing my phone off the nightstand and texting my best friend, Emma, asking if she was on her way, I headed to the living room.
"Finally! I thought you'd given up on me." Skye said.
"Oh, I'd never!" I said as I leaned down to give her a hug and kiss, "Go ahead, open your present."
Skye leaped to her present and didn't waste a second tearing apart the wrapping. Once the paper was gone, what was revealed was a journal. One that she's always wanted. Skye was a writer. Now she had something to write in.
"Astrid, I love it! Thank you so much, sissy." She simply said.
"You're welcome very much, cutie." I said in reply.
Grayson chimed in and said, "Okay, now open mine. It's under the couch."
Skye followed Grayson's finger to where he was pointing under the couch. What was there was a box wrapped in red paper. Skye grabbed the box and immediately opened it. In the box, was an outfit that looked like it belonged to a doll. Of course, I knew it didn't. Skye looked almost confused at first, but her expression soon changed once she realized what it actually was.
