Where Have You Been?!

Chapter 1

Mackenzie's Pov

Christmas is right around the corner, literally! It's Christmas Eve, and our door bell rings. It's 3:30 in the afternoon because we had just gotten home from last minute Christmas shopping. We just went and got some wrapping paper and tape. Maddie and I were working on thinking about what Santa's treats and notes would include. My mom walks to the door and answers. "Oh my, Maia!" We run to the door. "How is there two Mackenzies?" Maddie asks. "Um, girls, I have something I need to tell you guys. Maia, come on in." The girl, apparently named Maia, walks in and sits down on the couch next to mommy. She was a pretty girl, looking about nine, my age, had brunette hair pulled back into a ponytail, and had the same eye color as me. "Okay, Madison, Mackenzie, this is Maia. She's um, well how do I say this, your sister." Melissa says. "What? I'm so confused." I said. "Maia is your twin, Kenz. She has been in the hospital all of her life. She has always had breathing problems, so bad that they keep her there to make sure she's okay. Sometimes, I go and see her. I bring her toys and tell her about you girls and just, be a mother to her." "It's true, guys." Maia says. "They released me from the hospital for Christmas, and they're saying I can go to school and do all the cool stuff you do." "Maia is going to dance with you guys. She just needs to take the inhaler she has everywhere with her, or she may have to go back to the hospital." Mom says.
