Leonor Matias ignored the crying muscles in her back that had had enough of bearing the satchel she'd crammed full of clothes and books. In hindsight, she feels she should have packed lighter essentials, but she didn't go too hard on her mind that was already struggling for clarity.
Perhaps she should have left a note. But what would she write? She hardly had a reason for leaving. She thought. She wasn't sure. She didn't know. For now, she was focused on not getting lost on her way to the train station. Several times on the way, she'd check and check again that she had the right amount of money for the trip to wherever she felt was right when she saw the list of cities a night train would take her to.
There were a few people here and there in the station, and as she got closer to the platforms, the people became increasingly few. Once on her platform, she noticed only one other person. A businessman, it looked like. Seemingly under the influence of alcohol. He was fidgeting uncomfortably for a few minutes before giving into Mother Nature and scurrying to the nearest restroom.
This left the girl alone. She heard the train coming, but as she looked in its direction, all she could see were the headlights. Once it pulled into the station, she still wasn't sure if she could see it. It looked as if someone had cut a train-shaped hole from the station walls, revealing the night sky. Though, a night sky more pure and beautiful than she'd ever seen in person or online. She stared in silence.
The doors nearest to her opened.
Well. It was a train. That was enough for her.
