The Kobold anxiously watched the humans dispatch his 'brethren,' interested in how strong they were. He watched them come from outside... he wondered if he went outside if he could get strong too, and fight the elders. He watched as they took the talismans from them, and he felt his own on his ear. Perhaps they'd take him outside if he gave them his... he looked toward the entrance. It was brighter than he was used too, but he couldn't contain his curiosity. Heaving his shovel, he walked out the cave. His fur was black, with the places without that much were grey. He was just as smart as the larger kobolds, and he displayed it by trying to get the others to 'cooperate.' But now, his entire being would be tested...

He made it to the forest, and the breeze felt amazing on him. He walked along a little path he had found, but eventually he heard something nearby. Cautiously looking through the bushes, he saw a pond; and something else. He's seen them before, but normally in groups. This one was alone... and it had things the humans used. He stepped out, not taking his eyes off of it. With a howl, he swung his shovel at it, knocking it down, by surprise. He slammed his shovel's blade into the thing's body, continuously until it stopped moving. He poked it with his shovel, making sure it was dead. He took off the thing on its head, and tried putting it on. It restricted his ears, which felt uncomfortable; using the small sword it had he made holes to fit his ears into, and put it on again. He took the thing's necklace, and cloth around its waist, wearing both. He looked back down at it; it didn't seem that intelligent, but things change. If he could find more of these, he could get stronger. He walked back down the path to the cave, carrying the shovel and his new sword. He'd hide the shovel, his only weapon for awhile, and would use things he found outside. He heard humans talking as he walked, and dove into the bushes, not wishing a confrontation. They would definitely kill him on sight. He watched from the bushes as they walked past, waiting for them to go by. As soon as they did, he walked down the path. He didn't care if he was leaving tracks that they could easily follow, for he slightly wanted them to find him. He wanted to offer them something, and maybe they'd leave him alone. He finally made it back to the cave, and he hid his shovel behind some rocks. He nodded to himself, walking away. He'd prey on the green things when he finds them, but he had to find somewhere to go that he could be safe at, but also had a few humans he could kill. He'd prefer ones that were alone or inexperienced, and if he found one that was both he could really live it up. He wanted to be accepted as a ally by the humans, but he supposed he could kill some as long as he wasn't found out...

He had killed a few other of the things, and now had 'armor' on his chest. He had collected things he found on them in a pouch attached to his cloth, and it was full of shiny stones, coins, and held a few pieces of meat. He got pieces of metal bound by leather and cloth to protect his legs and his arms. Some 'goblins' as he heard the humans say ran away from him. They learned what he looked like by survivors that he mistakenly let get away. They were more intelligent than he thought. But this time... this time would be different. He quietly watched from a bush as two humans inspected his most recent kill. It was a larger goblin that foolishly came alone. He had acquired a decently-sized disc of metal from it, worn on one's arm. He also acquired a new, larger sword. He eyed the humans; based on how oblivious they were to their surroundings, they were new to exploring the forest. He carefully examined what they had; one was a warrior, and the other was a magic-user. Little did he know, however, their healer was behind, going at a slow pace.
Trying to correctly position himself for a quiet attack, the Kobold readied his sword. He sprinted forward, and stabbed the human from the side, his blade piercing through. The Kobold jumped back, ready to attack again; around the neck of both humans he saw another prize, another trophy to collect. He would soon become known as the Iron Kobold, unbeknownst to him. The human yelled out in pain, but even though he was severely injured, he readied his sword. The Kobold admired this about humans; they have a massive will to live. But, in the moment, there could be no peace. Kill or be killed. The human lunged at him, an attack easily deflected with his disc. Once it was, he stabbed the human again, curious as to why he would have such a large gap in his armor. He could tell the human would fall soon, having such deep wounds. The Kobold turned his attention to the magic-user, and ran toward her in a zigzagging manner, making sure to avoid any spells she casted. Once he was close enough, one slash was all it took for her to fall.
The priest watched, petrified in the bush she hid in as her comrades were easily killed by this beast. One clad in armor, unlike any she's seen... she immediately set out to return to the town. She would set a bounty of fifteen silver for this 'iron beast.' It was all she could afford to pay and still live for a good while before having to find another party and go back out...
The Kobold slowly went through the belongings of the pair he killed, taking a moment to examine the things he found. Ten shiny small discs in all, fourteen ones that had the color of dirt. More armor to wear, a better helm, and a new sword. Cloth that could cover him more, and not distractingly flap about as he ran. Pieces of leather to go around his claws. A cloak, darker than his fur. Two necklaces, both adorned with something akin to the dirt-discs. More food to store. He howled, enjoying the feeling of his victory. He left the bodies, and wandered through the forest. He must find shelter soon...
