4:00 am.
"Jellal, wake up. It's time for you to go to work."
"Let me sleep, Erza..."
"But you have to go, don't you? you will get your salary plus, if you don't go, he might scold you again, worse, might even fire you."
"He already fired me..."
"What?! He fired you?"
"That's why let me sleep...."
"But you must get up and find another job then, right? You can't be in bed forever."
"Erza...please...just let me sleep, let's talk about this later..."
"But Jellal, you have to go to work--"
Jellal's body shook as Erza forcefully woke him up. His body wriggled and Jellal could no longer control it.
"Dammit Erza, let me sleep! Didn't I stick the note saying not to wake me up?!" He got up, flinging his hand with the pillow but stopped mid-way.
"Erza?"
However, only thick air of darkness enshrouded around Jellal and the smell of drainage lingered in the room.
"Erza...?"
There was no one to reply him to.
Erza's bed was empty as well, her bed as neat as it was the day before, and the day before yesterday and the days before yesterday's.
Slowly letting go of the pillow, he held his head with both his hands as rain poured down onto the cloudy windows, fogging the room and hiding the beauty of the sorrowful moon.
The floorboards complained as Jellal's tears fell hard on it.
"No...Erza ..."
He headed towards Erza's bed, flashes of past memories of many yesterdays played inside his head.
Gradually picking up the latter's bed, he saw a body, tightly rolled and wrapped disorderly in a plastic sheet for days and on top of it were written words, in black marker, "Don't wake me up."
"Dammit Erza, let me sleep! Didn't I stick the note saying not to wake me up?!"
He got up, flinging his hand with the pillow and bit his lower lips and cheeks to prevent himself from cursing his best friend.
His head was dizzy and his vision fogged.
"Let me sleep all right!" He yelled and slumped down again, burying his face in his own dribbled pillow.
Erza didn't speak anything, maybe because she was sorry for waking him up or angry at him for throwing a pillow.
However, all Jellal heard before he fell asleep was the sound of the door clicking shut.
The next morning, he had found Erza's body lying underneath her own bed.
As his unstoppable tears of regret and guilt drizzled on Erza's body, Jellal once more grabbed the same marker and began scribbling the same words over and over again.
"I told you to not wake me up..."
"Don't wake me up, Erza..."
"Don't wake me up."
As Erza got pushed behind by Jellal's pillow, a floorboard was pried open right where she had stepped.
Losing her balance, she fell, hurting her head on the rusted steel footboard.
"Jel-lal..." She tried calling out but the impact had anesthetized her tone, making her voiceless.Erza's body metamorphosed like a cocoon, unable to move or talk. Her brain had turned benumbed, making her functionless like an unworkable robot.
"Jell---" Slowly, she was dead to the world and to her beloved Jellal.
