The Truth Behind 2P

It was dinner time and you were heading to the cafeteria to get some food with your boyfriend Italy. As usual, you and Italy filled your food trays with pasta and joined the usual gang: Germany, Japan, America, England, France, Russia, and China. Everyone stared at you and Italy as you approached them.

"So Italy, I see you managed to keep (Country Name) from unleashing her wrath and prevented her from awakening." Germany said as you looked at him puzzled.

"Huh? What are you talking about? Unleashing my wrath? Prevented me from awakening?" You asked, frowning in a puzzled manner after you swallowed the forkful of pasta you had stuffed into you mouth. Russia stepped in on the conversation.

"It seems like you don't know, (Country Name). Let me explain. You're the type of country whose awakening is triggered by rage. If you were ever to unleash your wrath, you would awaken which basically means your 2P counterpart would take over your body and soul. This would initiate the apocalyptic ending of the world. We could all see and feel an immense amount of dark energy radiating from you at the end of lunch break when you got mad at Italy. In fact that powerful dark vibe got stronger as the day went on, so strong that we could sense it when we weren't even around you. Since Italy was going to meet with you at your dorm room after school, I told him to do everything he could to calm you down so you wouldn't awaken and cause the destruction of the world. That dark energy died down a while after Italy left to go meet with you." Russia finished as you paused and reflected on what he had just said. Everyone stared at you until China broke the silence.

"If I'm being completely honest, it was really scary. I actually thought the world was going to end. It was a relief when that intense dark energy disappeared." China admitted, leaving you in shock. If Italy hadn't calmed you down and you raged, the world would've been brought to an end.

"All of us countries have 2P characters. They are basically darker, more evil versions of us that live within our bodies and share our souls. Our 2P counterparts are kept at bay by chains that restrain them, keeping them deep in our subconscious. They are very patient and devious characters and will wait for the perfect opportunity to break free when their chains are at the weakest. What weakens those chains are called triggers. Most of the time, we don't have to worry about them attempting to take over us. But if we succumb to our trigger, we will awaken. That means our 2P counterpart's restraints weaken to the point where they can and will break free and gain full control. Once your 2P character is freed from their bonds, you will never be the same country again. They take over your body and soul so it's permanent. There are ways to reverse an awakening, but it's rare." Russia explained further.

"So what you're saying is if I had awakened, my 2P character would have broken free of her restraints and taken over my body and soul. And that would bring about the end of the world. So does that mean if any country awakened, the world would end?" You asked Russia and resumed eating your food.

"Not necessarily. Countries with less worldly impact would only cause mass chaos. It's the superpower nations whose awakenings would initiate the apocalyptic ending of the earth. So as you can see, 2P characters are very dangerous. There are seven different awakening triggers: pride, greed, lust, envy, gluttony, wrath, and sloth. Every country's awakening trigger is one of those seven. Yours is wrath." Russia finished as you hummed and nodded in response since your mouth was full again. An awkward silence filled the table as everyone continued eating their dinner. As you ate, you wondered what Italy's awakening trigger was or if he even knew which one it was. Eventually, normal conversation returned to the table until everybody finished eating and started to leave the table with their trays. You were behind Italy in line to put your food tray on the dish conveyor belt.
