I turned around, staring at the prince who was now in the room. How did he get in here? I locked the door! "This is my room." He said, walking towards me as he showed my the key he held in his hand. How could I be so stupid to assume that the room, right next to mine, wasn't his room! My eyes darted around for an item to use as a weapon or even a quick way to get out. I decided to take a risk and jumped out his window, landing in a pond that was just outside. While it wasn't deep it still comforted my fall. I heard the prince yelling at the guards, "Don't let her get away! Bring her back to me! I don't care if she gets injured!"
I ran, I didn't know what to do. If he truly knew where my clan was, I needed to warn them, but since I failed a mission I would be killed once I got there. I decided to run where my feet would take me, I tore out the bows that held the braids in my hair as I ran and jumped over countless tiny ponds and lakes until I reached the palace wall. I sighed in relief that I made it this far but when I looked behind me I could see the guards rushing towards me with chains and weapons. I climbed up the bricks, using the dips and cracks to hold me up. I started to get to the top, getting slightly cocky, I jumped for it, but my fingers slipped and I fell to the hard ground. I cried out in pain from the blow my back had taken and struggled to get up. Once I got into a sitting position I was yanked up roughly by a man in armor. This is where I die. I thought as the man yanked me up, putting the chains on me and dragging me back into the palace by my hair. I tried to pull away, only resulting in more pain from my back.

I now stood in front of the prince, who glared at me with his dark green orbs. They had fire in them, he really did mean that he would kill me if I left these palace walls. "What did I say Akiira," He said in a disappointed tone, "I really didn't want to scar that beautiful body." He walked up to me, lifting up my chin with his finger, "Guards, hold her." The guards held my arms behind me and the prince took a dagger from his holster and slowly dug it into my arm, cutting down it slowly. I screamed as the knife slowly ripped through my skin, warm blood trickling down my arm, "Bastard!" The prince threw his knife to the side and wrapped his hands around my neck and lifted me up from the guards. He slammed me into a nearby pillar in a fit of rage and screamed at me, "Take it back! Take it back! Take it back!" He slammed me into the pillar again and again.
I yelled out hoarsely, "I-I take it back!" With that, he dropped me and I fell to my knees coughing and gasping for air. My breaths were shaky after I finally caught of breathe again.
"Guards, take her back to her room. Get Lisa to take care of her wounds," The prince demanded as he turned around to exit the room, "Oh, and don't let her get that close to the walls again!" He added quickly and walked out.
One of the men picked me up bridal style and carried me to my bedroom. Whenever I tried to start up a conversation he and the others stayed silent. This annoyed me but I decided to put up with it, there was most likely a reason they didn't want to talk to me. It was either that I was a former assassin or that they were told not to. I soon passed out from loosing so much blood on the way there and I saw the man slightly panicked and felt him running before I passed out.

I woke up in my bed, a girl by my side. She had long, dark brown hair with the same dark green eyes and tan skin that the prince did. I opened my mouth to ask her name but she spoke before I could say anything, "It's Lisa." Her voice had little to no emotion in it.
"Oh, I'm-" I was cut off by the girl.
"Akiira, I know." She said, looking down at my arm as she changed the bandages.
"So why are you here?" I asked. I haven't seen her around the palace since I arrived, even though I haven't been here a long time, I have seen most of the servants here.
"My brother, Alkbah, is here. You don't know him by that name though, you know him as Prince Baal. However, his formal name is Prince Alkbah Baal of India." She said as if I was supposed to know his first name.
"So you're the princess?" I said, confused as why she was tending to my wounds if she was a princess. She should be with her brother, not tending to me!
"No, my brother said he would let me go out of the palace if I became a maid for him and gave up my place as princess and future queen. I don't mind though, I love taking care of people and before I couldn't even leave my room unless I was told to by my father." She seemed to tell the truth, she didn't have any sadness in her voice, or regret for that matter.
I sighed and stayed laying down, staring at the ceiling of the room. While it was nice to have a soft bed, it was weird. I normally slept on the ground or in a tree, not something comfy like this. "So you gave up having riches and control of your country to be a maid, all because your brother would allow you to leave the palace?" I asked. I would never pass up a chance to live in luxury like this as a kid. The camp was cruel to kids. They beat them, whipped them, killed them, tortured them, and even made them kill others. We kids had to cook and make clothes for the clan. I remember my first task was to kill my parents. It was terrifying to face them with a dagger and know that I had to assassinate them, or I died for failing a mission.
"Yes. I am not much different from you though. You gave up your rights as a human being when you came here. You could have faced death and committed suicide by jumping out of the carriage, or letting my brother kill you." She said, still no emotion in her voice.

When Lisa left I was stuck in my room with some dolls and a tray of fruit. I sighed and picked at the fruit, eating bits of it as I played with the dolls. I was bored out of my mind. I got up and banged on the door, "Let me out! I demand to see Alkbah!" The door swung open, almost as if on cue, and the prince came in, smiling at me. He hastily shut the door and grabbed my arm, "So you wished to see me?" He asked with a smile.
"No, I was hoping I could rush my way out and explore. I'm bored here, there is nothing to do!" I yelled. The dolls were barely entertaining and I already finished the fruit I wanted to eat.
He glared at me, "I give you a nice bed, nice clothes, even toys to play with, and this is how you react?"
"I'm an assassin! I'm not meant to be confined in a small area where I can't climb on stuff." I stated, looking up at him and tapping my foot. This was very true, as a child I was raised in a forest with my clan, we had to climb the trees everyday and mark our progress. I was just raised in an area where we could run around and climb whenever we wanted to.
"Then come with me, I'll show you to the garden." He said, taking my hand in a gentle manner and leading me out of the room.
I staggered behind him as he dragged me through the halls and down the stairs. He pushed open the door and ran to a beautiful garden. It had tall trees and amazing flowers that had a pond in the middle as a final touch. I stared in awe at the amazing space and beautiful flowers. My bare feet felt cool against the grass and the prince chuckled at my expression. "You look like a child!" He laughed. He pat me on the head, "Don't go near the walls and surrender yourself to me, then you can come out here all the time." The tingling sensation of him whispering in my ear made me jump forward.
"No way I'm going to surrender myself to you!" I yelled from anger. Did he really think he could win me over by this garden? While I admit that it's beautiful, I wouldn't surrender just to go to this garden everyday.
"That's too bad." He sighed and grabbed my wounded arm, twisting it behind my back. I wiggled around in pain, I could feel the cut opening and I begged for him to stop, "Please! Stop! I'm sorry if I said something to make you mad!" This only resulted in the prince throwing me to the ground and stepping on my back. I wriggled around, soon getting myself out from under his foot. I jumped into the pond for cover, no way a prince would want to get his clothes dirty right? Well I was wrong, he took off his shoes and walked into the pond. I backed up and fell back in the pond, the prince still trudging towards me as I desperately tried to get up.
The prince ripped me out of the water by my hair and shoved me out of the water, making me fall yet again. My wet clothes stuck to my body, my lightly tanned skin showing through the white parts. "That dress really shows off your curves." He said in a seductive tone as he dug his foot into my wounded arm. It bled out but not as badly as it did he first time he cut it. I held in my screams and he yelled at me, "Scream for me! Let me hear those beautiful pleads for mercy!" There was a glint of insanity in his green eyes.
I didn't scream, he didn't deserve to hear me scream for mercy.

After what seemed like an eternity of excruciating pain, he finally stepped off. "You're a strong one." He said, rather impressed by the way I put up with the pain. I shakily got up from the ground, holding my arm. My beautiful blue and white dress now was wet and had splotches of dark red on it from the blood that came from my arm.
"Are you still bored, or do you want to go back to your room?" He asked, amusement in his voice. That sadistic bastard of a prince was amused by trying to get me to scream.
"I-I'll go back. I think I can escort myself to my room..." I whispered, trying not to whimper in front of him. He took my hand and yanked me towards him as I tried to walk off.
"I'll take you, just to be safe." He said in a demanding tone which made me felt like I shouldn't disobey him this time. I followed him to my room, the servants looking at the blood on my dress and then quickly getting back to work. I heard the two twins hiss, "That used to be us getting hit by the prince. His royal rings hitting us!" The prince payed no mind to them and led me gently up the stairs, opposed to him yanking me up them roughly. He opened the doors for me and I looked at him suspiciously for a moment before sitting down on my bed. I sighed and climb across the soft bed to grab the bandages that sat on the nightstand but they were snatched away by the prince.
"No, let me do it." He insisted as he pushed me into a sitting position.
"I'd rather-"
"Don't argue!" He said as he grabbed my arm and started to wrap it.
I stayed silent as he continued to wrap my arm. Was he always like this, having these weird swings between being caring and hurting? I wonder if I can find out something from the other servants. Maybe Lisa knows something! Maybe, just maybe, I can use this to my advantage. I could manipulate this if I play my cards right! Now all I have to do is wait for the right moment to strike...
