Just a short poem about friendship... it's my first work and it's just for a bit of fun. All suggestions appreciated!

Young faces bright

Joyful and free

Not a care in the world

You and me

We promised each other

Right there and then

We'd be best friends forever

Until the end

As the years passed by

Our friendship stayed strong

Until that one year

When it all went wrong

New friends appeared

Like flowers from a shop

You picked them over me

Something I've never forgot

I lost you once

I'll lose you again

That's why I'm afraid

For us to be friends

The old house is aging

The owner doesn't care

Life doesn't matter

For the woman in the chair

She sits and she stares

All day at the wall

Nobody knows when

The lady will fall

Her tears are still frozen

Her heart is still broken

Her voice isn't heard

It's been years since she's spoken

Paintings and photos

In frames they appear

All over the house

She's had them for years

Two girls laughing freely

Their faces so bright

Unaware of the future

Their hearts still so light

Time passes quickly

In a world of despair

Cherish what you have

While it's still there

One day she'll die

The woman in the chair

Wishing and hoping

That life was more fair

People are changing

Love is dying

And when they're all gone

I'll still be crying.
