It had been a week and it was only just now did Kagome go through the Bone Eater's Well. Sesshomaru could have slain the pitiful demon that pulled her in, but he knew she'd be fine if she freed Inuyasha from the spell he was under for 50 years. Now all he had to do was... 'What was it am was to do? Why was am even here?' He sighed under his breath. 'I have no reason to even be here. What had happened to my goal to gain ultimate power?'
Sesshomaru was sitting in the Tree of Ages trying to sleep with all his thoughts circling through his mind when he heard and smelt that girl he met a week ago. Not bothering to even acknowledge her presence he stayed in the tree with his eyes closed and that signature frown of his.
"Sesshomaru," She called up to him with a gentle and beautiful voice as she looked up at him. "Glad you could come. Do you think you could help me with something?"
He groaned and looked down at her with a glare. "What makes you believe I would help a worthless human?"
"Sheesh, talk about cold." Asami crossed her arms sent him a scowl. "It's about a friend of mine, Kagome Higurashi. Her younger brother came to me telling me she was pulled into the well by a demon. Then they both disappeared."
"She's fine and she'll return to you all when she so chooses." Sesshomaru went back to resting, ending the conversation there.
Asami bit her lip as she watched him. Why was he there if he refused to do anything but lay around doing nothing and how does he know she'll come back? Throwing her arms in the air she stormed off away from the crypt demon dog.
Before she got every far another scent hit Sesshomaru causing him to react fast with his inhuman speed. He jumped from the tree and in front of Asami within seconds, his back to her when a woman or rather demoness appeared before him out of a cloud of masima.
"Naomi." Sesshomaru boredly announced. "And to what do I owe this visit?"
She chuckled with amusement sparkling in her eyes. "Oh please, Sesshomaru! You cannot be serious. Wasting your time here? At a humans residence and then protecting one?"
Sesshomaru remained passive. "What I do is of no concern of yours."
She pouted, but before she answered Asami stepped up beside Sesshomaru. "I would suggest you leave unless you'd prefer me to kill you where you stand." Her voice was low and threatening even to his ears.
"Asami," The woman smiled a cruel smile towards her. "I see you haven't changed. Still as defiant as ever, but if you were wise you would stay out of this."
Narrowing her eyes, Asami called out a name. "Entei!" Just as she called name a sword of flames appeared in her hands. Even her hair changed colors, turning a fiery red, and golden cat eyes took the place of her green human ones. "Sadly you have to deal with me before Sesshomaru." She growled.
"If that's the way you want it, insolent girl." Naomi rose her hand and purple lights of strings circled around her before she sent it flying at Asami. "You will die for interrupting Sesshomaru and I!"
Asami cut through some of the strings of light and darted for the demoness, but before she could even make contact with the smug bitch demon; she was stopped by Sesshomaru pulling her back against him. His breath was warm against her ear. "Don't be foolish." He hissed in her ear. "Naomi could have easily killed you in numerous ways with you acting so reckless."
Naomi's eyes went red as she watched Sesshomaru snatch Asami back against him. "Sesshomaru, since when do you care what happens to a human?"
"Human? She doesn't look human to me, nor is she a half-demon." Sesshomaru looked down at her with a curious interest.
Naomi snarled. "She is nothing, but a lesser demon in need of a beating!"
Sesshomaru laughed. "Is that jealousy I hear, Naomi?" He was actually smiling with amusement. "Do you think I can't smell panther on her? Though I do agree your kind are lesser than mine, but you are only half panther does that not make you lesser than she?"
A scream of rage came from Naomi which only made Sesshomaru's smile widen and shove Asami behind him when she came flying at him with her claws. He grabbed her wrists and let his poison claws dig into her skin. "You dare raise your claws towards me?"
She growled low in her throat. "You know perfectly well that I was after the girl... Now move aside, Sesshomaru and let me deal with my cousin."
His claws dug even deeper causing her to whimper. "Get out of my sight half-breed."
Asami's eyes widened when he snarled his words at her and then let her go by shoving her away.
Rubbing her wounded wrists Naomi grumbled. "I will be back, Sesshomaru. If not for you then for the welp that may weak, worthless uncle spawned."
Just like that she disappeared in a cloud of miasma and Asami finally calmed down, but didn't take her human disguise she had earlier. Dismissing her sword, she didn't even notice Sesshomaru glancing at her. 'How is it she was capable of hiding from me? Could she really have the power to deceive even me?' He thought to himself.
She looked up and met his golden gaze then her the breath rush from her lungs. 'He's even more striking up close...'
"Your pure blooded panther demon, yet different from your kin." Sesshomaru observed. "Tell me why you're out for blood when it comes to Naomi."
She narrowed her yellow eyes at him for his simple demand. "I see, you're one of those who expects immediate subjectagation." When he remained silent and his gaze never wavered she answered. "As you heard she is my cousin, but I am almost 300 years younger than her and naturally we panther demons stick together... well it wasn't the case with her. She was half panther and half bat demon. I guess she saw herself as a superior demon with two powerful bloodlines coursing through her, but when my father put her in place for her brutality towards another clan member she lashed out at him and was banished. She came back when I turned 200 something and slaughtered my parents, then the rest of the clan. Sparing the young ones, me included."
Sesshomaru listened, but never once reacted to anything she said. "So you bid your time before freeing yourself from her and now you lie in wait for her to make a mistake like she'd done today."
"Something like that."
Her voice was cool and calm, but just the way she was drew Sesshomaru to her. He felt a pull and even his beast stirred ever so slightly in her presence.
"Now about Kagome." She sounded like herself or the her he met that first day.
He turned and began to walk away from her. "No and that is my final answer." Even his voice sounded cold and distant as if he could careless about what went on around him, yet still be very aware of everything.
She growled at him and it made his beast stir even more towards her challenge. "Who are you to even believe you have a right to treat everyone the way you do. As if they are below you."
"Because they are below me. I am Sesshomaru, Lord of the Western Lands and son of the great dog demon -father name-." He had turned his golden gaze back on her and his power just rose to the surface making her take a step back in a split second of fear.
Asami grounded her teeth and took a few more steps to prove she was no coward. "Arrogance can get you killed especially if you underestimate whom you challenge."
"You are absolutely right, Asami. So tell me why you dare challenge me?" Sesshomaru learned that lesson long ago, though he'd never admit it nor acknowledge it all that much, his brother was one he underestimated very often, but after his near death experience he never again made such a mistake with that pathetic half-demon.
She crossed her arms and glared fiercely at him. "I think I preferred your silence."
