Ben's POV

"So, I've know you, Kessie my whole life, and your my best friend. We've been through everything together and I just wanted to say-..." "Ben are you talking to yourself?" Damn it, busted. "Just practicing my lines for the peach refuge!" I heard a snort. "Ben, don't get you boxers in a bunch, the peach refuge is six months away, so don't worry." Trust me, I wasn't worried about the peach refuge. I hadn't even taken a glance at what Kessie wrote for me. But still, the peach refuge was our only way to win back the USA. "hey Ben ?", asked Kessie. "Yeah kess?" I knew this conversation like the back of my hand. it was an important convo in kessie's life. we had it many times a month. "Do you think my future would've been better if I just listened to Chaff?" "Kesslyn we've been over this, Chaff's words didn't make any thing different. You still would've tried to find your mom. But obviously, the new government was against it, therefore, your execution date would've still been the same." I heard a whimper and once again she said,"Do you think Chaff would've lived if I wasn't so curious?" "Chaff is not the reason you were curious, everyone is curious at one point. Especially when they know their mother left them and they want to know why. Chaff was only punished because he was your guardian and should've kept you out of trouble." A sigh, "yeah, yeah." I heard creaking against the bathroom door. she was leaning on it. "Listen, Kess you need to get over Chaff. You need to focus on our project to get back the USA." Another sigh, "Of course, I can't be thinking the way I am at the moment. I need to be thinking about world wide justice." I smiled. "Why don't you get your things so we can head to the apartment in Simali." I heard a, " okay...." , then footsteps, then no sound at all except for the zipping of bags. "Any who...", I said to the mirror. "I just wanted to say I love you Kesslyn Renee Branson. And I want us to be more than friends." I was shaking and I wasn't even talking to Kesslyn. Well another thing to worry about. Me and Kessie. I've loved her as a best friend until I realized I really truly loved her. And that it was basically us against the world.

Kesslyn's POV

I finished up packing my clothing necessities, when I heard I love you coming from the bathroom. I got up closer and I heard my name. He said he was practicing his peach refuge speech! I know it didn't say a thing about me in there. Something was very weird here. "Ben??" I heard a gasp and the the lock click and the creaking of the door. I opened to see Ben's bright green eyes looking at me shyly. "yes...Lyn?" he barely called me lyn. Usually it was Kess or Kessie. Something was very wrong. "Are you sure you were practicing your peach speech?" He looked down and mumbled," Of course I was." Than he started fumbling with his fingers. "Let me see the paper then." I knew he knew that I knew something was terribly wrong. "You don't believe me Lynnie?" Lynnie? Puh-leazeee... "No I don't benji so show me it!" He gave me the paper and said, "Please don't read it." Of close I was going to read it! Come on! That's what I thought before I read what it said.

Ben's POV

She turned pale white. "Ben...." I looked at her like I was apologizing. "Ben, what the hell is this?" She looked at me scornfully. "It was a...uh...joke." She knew I was lying. "Benjamin, you can't possibly......no...i mean....i don't know...WHY DID YOU WRITE THIS?!" I looked at her like she was the knife and I was the government official. "It was made for you.... obviously." I said that quietly. "I think I'm going to go rest...ben. See ya." Well great..
