The princess was always so admirable to you. How she smiled, how her cheeks were dusted a rosy pink, and how her presence made everyone happy. You were proud to be a loyal maid of the El'erut family, and you were also proud that your beloved princess would soon be getting crowned the queen.
But there was one small issue: her upcoming king seemed to be madly in love with you.
It baffled you as to how such a lowly maid could attract someone so... rich. Your daily life consisted of cleaning windows and making supper for your princess, but somehow it resulted in a prince constantly flirting with you - and you didn't like it.
You didn't like how he constantly got you in trouble when he left. The head maid would always get onto you about 'flirting' with the prince, when you weren't whatsoever. It just seemed like it because who wouldn't flirt with someone that high of ranking?
But no worries, the princess would be soon married to him and he would be off of your back. They would have kids together and rule their kingdom like a proper royal family.
Or so you thought.
It happened on their wedding day. Everything seemed to be going perfectly... the princess looked gorgeous in her all-white dress, and you knew that the prince would be waiting at the end of the aisle to say his vows - which meant stress off of your shoulders.
"You look amazing, Julie," you said softly as you brushed her silky brown hair. A small smile was on your face as she stared at herself in the mirror.
"Do I now?" she responded, blushing a bit. You nodded, staring at both of your reflections. This was how it was supposed to be. Julie getting married, and you watching from the sidelines.
You finished with Julie's hair as the stylist came in. "Excuse me," you said, bowing and leaving the room. It was now time to prepare the dining room for the after-party.
Walking down the long-stretched hallways, you hummed a soft tune to yourself. Oh, how excited you were for this wedding! You were such a sucker for things like this. Love - as long as it didn't apply to you - was beautiful!
"Here comes the bride..." you sang under your breath, doing a quick little twirl. You arms were outstretched slightly, but before you could catch your balance after the spin, your wrist was grabbed and you were pulled into a spare room.
"Help m-!" you were muffled by a hand covering your mouth. Your eyes were clenched shut at first, but soon enough your (eye color) orbs would open to see who your current captor was. It was nobody other than the same prince who seemed to never leave you alone. Your panicked expression twisted into one of sheer annoyance.
"What do you want?" you'd hiss after the prince would remove his hand. The male stared at you, green eyes seemingly piercing into your soul.
"Marry me." He pleaded, taking a knee.
You were absolutely stunned. On his own wedding day, he was asking you to marry him? How absurd! You couldn't believe he had the guts to do this. With all of your strength, you pushed the prince back and side stepped so you wouldn't be pinned to the wall.
"No! How many times do I have to deny your advances before you get it through your thick skull that we are never, ever going to be together? Can't you just accept the fact that you're marrying Julie and I am going to continue my life being a maid, which quite frankly, I am content doing! For the love of god, leave me be!"
Blond locks would fall in front of the male's face as a disappointed frown appeared. He peeked up at you, gritting his teeth. He balled his fists together, letting out a long, depressed sigh.
