You, Me and the Clouds

74 7 11

Clouds:

Weightless, white,

Always there,

Day or Night

Even if you can’t see them.

In the sky they float

An aimless drifting

I watch them,

Thinking, thoughts sifting.

You watch them too.

Sometimes we watch them together.

In perfect, blissful silence.

Not a word said:

Our agreement. Our alliance.

We face the world together, in peace.

The grass in the meadow:

It tickles my sides where I lie.

The flowers are so beautiful.

But you stare up. Letting time fly.

Do you even notice them?

The vivacious violets,

Forget-me-nots blue,

Sun-bathed buttercups,

And spring shoots new.

How can you not see them?

The clouds remind me of you.

Distant, obscure but perfect.

Days I spend with you are slow, uneventful

But worth it.

Who needs excitement anyway?

Clouds:

Weightless, white

Always there

Day or night

Even if you can’t see them.

Reliable:

That’s what they are.

Our safest hobby,

To watch from afar.

I see everything

But I bare no scar

I’ll watch them

But I’ll never be a shining star.

You have thoughts but you make no sound.

We’ll just lie here, watching, from the ground

As the clouds float by and the world goes round.
