AVERY HAD BEEN walking for days, or at least it felt that way from the way that her feet were throbbing and aching, begging her to stop for even just a mere second. She rubbed at her nose that was numb from the cold as she pulled a pack of cigarettes from her pocket, lighting one up and taking a long drag.

She watched the way that the smoke curled in front of her, enveloping her in a hug before she nibbled on her chapped lip. Vaguely, she could hear the sound of a car approaching her in the distance and she didn't have to look behind her to know who it was. The red camaro that she had paid for had suddenly veered off in front of her, pulling to a stop.

Avery let out a low groan of annoyance, taking a step back as a mocha haired boy with a flaring temper stepped out of the car. "What the fuck are you thinking, Avery? You can't just up and leave like that!" Kaleb growled to the brunette, his eyes were dangerously dark. Avery just stood there, not appalled by his behavior since she was used to it by now. She swallowed the lump in her throat and she took another long drag off of her cancer stick. "I can't work with somebody who doesn't give me one hundred percent." Avery mumbled to Kaleb, shifting from foot to foot as she looked at the icy ground.

"I don't give you one hundred percent? Are you kidding me? You have to be kidding me." Kaleb scoffed to Avery as he smacked the hood of the car and he glared at her. "You need me. You can't just walk away from this...from us." His voice was a hiss now.

"There is no us, Kaleb. You're living in a fantasy...a facade. This was all to get us what we wanted but you...you messed up, okay? And I can't take anymore chances. I already made a risk by working with you and I won't keep doing that." Avery said to Kaleb as she brushed past him, angrily. In the near distance, she could see the neon lights that belonged to that of a vintage motel. She tossed her cigarette to ground, stomping it out before she headed straight for the bar that was attached to the motel.

The warm air greeted her the moment that she had walked in but so did the strong smell of nicotine and man musk which repulsed her but she couldn't bear to be in the cold for much longer. Her face was stinging with the reminants of her walk and she rubbed her hands together before ordering a round of shots. Avery liked to avoid her problems and the best way to do that...was by drinking them away.

Seth was sitting at the end of the bar, taking small sips out of a green beer bottle but the moment he had heard the bell above the door ring and he felt a presence at the bar with him, he turned to see who it was. At first, he was speechless. The brunette with beautiful long, curly locks was the first woman who had ever managed to make him lose his words but he saw the way that she was downing shot after shot and he chuckled, lowly. "Something bothering you, sweetheart?" Seth hummed to Avery.

Avery was expecting to be able to drink in peace but it seemed as if she couldn't even do that. "Not interested." Avery said to the man who only moved onto the barstool that was next to her. "I wasn't coming onto to you...just wanted to know if I could have a penny for your thoughts." Seth chuckled to Avery.

"Do you want to know my thoughts?" Avery asked Seth as she leaned in, their faces close. She tilted her head and she narrowed her eyes at him as her slender fingers darted out to play with his tie. "I want another drink." Avery purred to the man, licking her lips.

Seth couldn't help but to smirk at the girl, finding himself entranced by her as he waved the bartender over. "Get this lovely lady the most expensive glass of alcohol you own." Seth breathed to the bartender and that made Avery smirk as she drug her finger along the rim of glass. "What brings you here, handsome?" Avery asked Seth in a purr.

Seth licked his lips, leaning in towards the girl. "Just my line of work, what about you, sugar?" He cooed, studying the girl's face. She had an odd sense of familiarity about her but he couldn't put his finger on it. Avery cocked her head to the side. "Because...you're running. Geckos always run and hide because they can be stepped on so easily." Avery hummed to Seth which caused his face to fall. "What did you just say to me?" His hand fastened around the handle of his gun.

He didn't wait for her to reply as he yanked her up which caused a half tipsy giggle to escape past those pretty pink lips of hers. "Whoa, whoa...handsome. If you liked it rough, you could have just said so." Avery giggled as Seth pressed the muzzle of his gun against her lower back and it caused her lips to part open. "Just walk." He growled as they exited the bar together.

"You can put that thing down. I'm no snitch and I never said that I wasn't running from something either." Avery clicked her tongue as she walked backwards so that she could face the Gecko boy, her lips pursed. She saw an opportunity here and she was going to be damned and if she didn't snatch it up.

"How about you and I...have a little chat? Make a deal?" Avery asked Seth, the alcohol hanging heavy on her breath. He tilted his head at her like a curious puppy. "You help me and I'll help you...allow me to introduce myself." Avery held a hand out for Seth to shake. "Avery...Avery Quinn."
