Judy didn't remember much from the night before. Driving, more driving, Nick getting shot. She didn't yet trust the lady of the house, but Judy was too exausted from the drive to do anything. Judy simply surrendered, explained their situation and hoped for the best.

“Seems legit.” The vixen shrugged before showing Judy to a guest bedroom.

The peaking of the sun over the horizon is what woke her. A panoramic window opened the room to a three-sixty degree view of the surrounding forest.

The house was just as she remembered it from her time with Jack; modern and crisp. Being familiar with the layout, Judy stood up and found her way to the bathroom. Ten minutes and a shower later, she was all cleaned up; but left without fresh clothes. All she had was her tired outfit from the night before, covered in sweat and rest.

However, when Judy stepped out of the shower, there was something new on the counter; a fresh set of clothes. Grey sweat pants and a t-shirt with the iconic Zootopia logo. After putting them on and entering the living room, she spotted her host out on the balcony.

Skylar sat by the edge of the pool, letting her toes fall in and play with the water. She wore a light blue summer dress, the same hue as her sky eyes. The vixen giggled as she splashed in the pool like a little kid, not a thought about the struggles of life.

Judy made her way across the balcony and sat down next to her host, splashing and playing along her side. At first, it was strange to play such games with a grown woman, but the chucked quickly became comforting. Once they exchanged a couple pokes and smiles, Skylar finally spoke.

“So what’s your story?” Skylar asked. “How did you find this place?”

“I remembered it from my last mission with Jack.” She explained.

“So you've worked with Jack?” Skylar prompted with genuine curiosity.

“Yep. He joined Nick and I in the ZPD, but I also followed him for a mission a couple weeks ago. Against Kayla Helm.”

“Wait, that was you?” Skye asked in astonishment. “You worked the Helm case?”

“Yeah,” Judy admitted slowly. “Is that a big deal?”

“Only the biggest deal!” She exclaimed with wide eyes. “Everyone is talking about the rookie who closed the Helm case; the new underdog. You're gonna keep working with us, right?”

“I hadn't planned on it.” She denied. “I just worked that case because I was in the moment. It was a dumb idea now that I think about it.”

“Nah, you can't let go of this. You have a gift.” Skye encouraged. “Hell, you did better than I did on my first mission.”

“Really, how did your first mission turn out?”

“I killed a civilian.” She admitted with disappointment. “Not my finest work.”

“...”

“But practice makes perfect, and you didn't kill anyone.” Skye continued proudly. “I'm sure you'll fit right in.”

“The offer is flattering, but I have a life figured out for myself back in Zootopia.” She said. “Nick, Jack and I are going to get this attempted murder thing sorted out, then we're heading back to the city.”

“Pff, good luck with that.” Skylar answered sarcastically. “I've never seen that happen before.”

“What do you mean?”

“The animals you worked for are very particular, they don't just let anyone come and go as they please.”

“But I haven't done anything.” Judy stated. “They can't keep me.”
