A Poem

I have to write a poem today

And nothing's as hard as that I must say

I've thought, and I've paced, and I've tried through and through

But, can't think of a thing, I'll have to make due

I'll call in the troops and a sibling or three

Maybe they'll think of a way to help me

We'll talk for a while and discuss over juice

I need some ideas I need to let loose

This always happens when I try to write

I think I'll give up and call it a night

But I really want to finish so that I can relax

Perhaps it will help to go over some facts

I'm writing a poem, I'm in the eighth grade

And wouldn't do this again even if I were paid

See look, there's a rhyme, I can work with that

But I've got nothing else, gosh darn it! Drat!

I really can't think of anything else to say

But if there's a will the there should be a way

So why can't I find the right words to express

The way that I'm feeling with eloquence and finesse

Tomorrow I'll just apologize to my teacher

She'll think I'm such an incapable creature

I'm afraid to agree but I fear that I must

By not completing this poem, I'm betraying her trust

But, I really can't do it, so I'll apologize

And, hopefully my friends can all sympathize

Because writing a poem is such a hard thing to do

Im giving up and going bed my efforts here are through
