Chapter 15
It was late afternoon when they finally pulled off the highway and into the road that led them into the car park of the Compound. Nicolas turned into the car park as did Taylor, but Eli turned away heading up towards Jaz's home. He slowed down as he got closer and pulled up gently in front of the house, it was only the noise of the hand-brake that woke Jaz.
"Eli?"
"Your home Jaz. Take a minute, the kids are still asleep and Cade and the guys will be here in a minute to help unpack." He looked out the window and silently put a finger to his lips as if to shush someone.
Jaz turned and found both Emma and Cord standing on the porch waiting for them. Her face broke into a smile and she quickly got out of the car making her way to them both. "I've missed you both, so much!" she said as she hugged them both.
"Is it true mum, do I have more brothers and sisters?" began Cord.
Emma shushed him, "Cord, there's plenty of time for questions. Let your mother catch her breath."
Jaz smiled, for the first time she realised she'd actually missed the place. "Yes you have two more brothers and one more sister. They are all in the back of the car still asleep so let's see if we can be quiet while we unpack the car okay?"
Cord grinned and gave her a nod before going to see if he could help Eli.
Jaz turned to Emma about to ask her about what they could do to sort out sleeping arrangements for the children when the woman shushed her. "Cade called Angelique and between the two of us and with Cords help we've sorted out sleeping arrangements for the time being."
Jaz was stunned, happily so, "Thank you."
"I've put a cot in your room for the baby. I thought it best to have him close to you. The older two are sharing Cade's because the bed is bigger and Cord gave up his room for his sister. He's decided as the man of the house he'll shift and sleep downstairs by the fire like Eli does. I told him he'd need to speak to you about that."
Jaz couldn't help but laugh, "I'll talk to him."
"Jaz, he's excited and wants to play big brother."
She nodded, "I'll tread lightly. As she turned to her son Cade and the guys showed up to help with their luggage. There was so much of it and she wasn't sure what was whose so in the end decided to leave most of it against the far wall in the living room out of the way.
Quiet as they were the children began to stir, both Kody and Liam looking a little wary if not afraid and Riley started crying wanting the comfort of someone's arms. Jaz managed to get him out speaking softly to all three at the same time.
"Cade's on the other side of the car with your new brother Cord, they are going to take you inside and introduce you to Emma. If you need to use the bathroom or would like a drink or something just ask; I've got to see to your brother then I'll be with you. Okay?" she waited hoping they'd be fine going with Cade and Cord. When they nodded she breathed a sigh of relief, grabbed the nappy bag and made her way inside then up to her room to get Riley sorted out.
Her bedroom was altered slightly in that there was now a cot and a sideboard with enough draws for Riley's clothes. Her walls had also been utilised as well, someone had placed what looked like some kind of contraption used for holding nappies. The fact that it was hanging on the wall and out of the way made a lot of sense to her.
