song six
strawberry fields forever - the beatles"1988. Holding close, I felt like I was floating on a cloud. You held me close as we stood in the middle of the room, no one else in the small flat. You had called me late last night to tell me how sorry you were about everything. A one night stand almost ruined the friendship we had developed over the last few years. Rubbing my back, goosebumps ran up my body. I cuddled close to you. Not wanting you to let me go. The way you held me - I was sure you loved me. You dont just hold someone like that noel. You held me like you never wanted me to fall or slip away from you. And i never wanted to slip away from you.
You let me go after a second then leant down and gently kissed my forehead. Looking down at me, i felt like something was wrong. I looked up at you,
"What is it?" i asked.
"Im leaving tomorrow." you whispered
"What?" I asked
"For tour, I got a job as a roadie." You sat down, pulling me with you.
I frowned. "Why?"
"Because.. I like music" You chuckled, shrugging.
I was upset. We had just gotten back to being good friends and you wanted to leave? I looked at my feet with sad eyes. Your fingers lifted my chin. My eyes slowly gazed into yours.
"I will call you everyday okay?" You smiled down at me.
"You promise?"
"Riss, I promise." And with that you kissing my cheek. I smiled gently at you then looked over at your guitar.
"Play me our song."
You looked at your guitar with smile then grabbed it. Sitting up, you put the guitar on your knee. You played a chord then nodded. I watched, waiting for the song to begin. Soon, the opening chords played. You began singing. Strawberry Fields Forever was picked because we both loved the Beatles and I loved the way you said Strawberry. It was too cute. And I will miss the little things that made me smile about you. The way you spoke. How angry you got over Man City games. The way your hair fell in your eyes every time you laughed. Those things made me smile. Every time I saw you, I fell more deeply in love with you, Noel. Everyone knew it too. Rosie, Liam, my Dad, your Mum. Everyone.
As you continued to play on, I laid back with a smile. Nothing could beat a moment like this. Just laying there listening to you sing."
