Falling.Cassie was falling, her back ached as wind rushed around her. The ground was moving closer, panic filling her chest as she tried to flap her wings, but they were broken and bloody, uselessly trailing behind her.
Trees.
Trees surrounded Cassie as her head spun. Wings useless on either side of her, bones most likely broken. Suddenly, silver hair and pearl eyes filled her vision. Cassie said something to the girl above her. The pain left her body as an owl screeched nearby.
The girl disappeared, Cassie found herself on the outskirt of a town. A church stood within the center. She walked up to the large doors, pushing them inward. A familiar feeling washed over her as she stepped onto the threshold, an old man sitting in one of the pews.
Cassie's eyes switched from gold to green as she sat beside him. "Molly?" The old man looked up, glazed eyes searching blindly for what they could no longer see.
Her smile was sad "sorry sir, I'm not Molly."
He gave her a grin, his mouth half-full of crooked yellow teeth "It's alright. What are you doing here, young lady?"
Cassie held one of the old man's withered hands "Praying for home."
He pat her hand "I hope the Lord hears your prayers. Now, could a young lady, such as yourself, help an old man home?"
Cassie smiled, gently squeezing the old man's hand "of course."
She walked the old man up to the doors of a rickety old shack, the door almost falling off the hinges as it swung open. The old man smiled, grip on Cassie's arm loosening "Thank you." Cassie turned to leave "Before you go. Are you an angel, girl?"
Cassie didn't turn around "Something like that."

Cassie stood on a battlefield, bodies lying dead around her, her grip on her weapon tight.
A crimson haired girl with a black star around one eye approached her. "The general got away."
Cassie growled as a woman beside her placed a hand on her shoulder "Calm, child. We will win this war soon, you have my word."
The red haired girl sheathed her sword "What are you doing here, Cass?"
Cassie grinned "Forgetting."
Cassie is being carried, long arms cradling her, the world slowly swaying past as the girl returns to conscious for only a few moments, long enough for a word to pass her lips "Angel."
