Steven sat nervously on the couch, fidgeting his hand. Clementine had went out with her siblings, leaving Steven to spend time with her parents. She was hesitant, knowing how her mother and father could be but they insisted, making the 27 year old look apologetically at her boyfriend of a year. Steven didn't mind really, wanting nothing more than to be as close to her as possible, even if that included a awkward evening with the two closes people in her life.

Tom, Clem's father had tried lightening the mode with small talk, only having the conversation fade away by Stevens, obvious anxiety. So they settled on watching television together, as Clem's mother went to take a shower. Steven, being on the opposite side of the living room caused tom to scoot over on the couch and pat the extra space beside him for the 33 year old to see the tv better.

After atleast a half hour of the awkward tension, Tom sighed, shutting off the tv and turning towards Steven, who looked back at the older man wide eyed.

"Okay what's wrong Steven?"

"Uh- what no-nothing's wrong."

"You've never acted like this around us before so just spit it out."

"I-I mean I don't know if you'll like it."

"Does it hurt my daughter?"

"No."

"Does it hurt my family?"

"No. It shouldn't."

"Then I don't care tell me."

Steven sat there for a moment trying to find the words to say, nervously staring at the floor. Finally growing the courage to say the words he's wanted to say for months, his eyes met Clem's father and he spoke-

"I want to ask Clem to marry me."

AHHHH I KNOW THIS IS SHORT SORRY BUT I WANTED TO DO THIS CHAPTER FOR A WHILE CAUSE IT JUST SEEMS LIKE THIS STORY IS JUST DRAGGING ON AND I WANTED SOMETHING BIG TO HAPPEN SO!!!!! STEVEN WANTS TO PROPOSE!!!
