-Prologue-

I didn't want it to end like this but it happened. My whole life didn't flash by like it does in books. Instead it was midnight. Lying on the floor, gasping for air, tears flooding my eyes. Blood dripping down my arm, my clothes soddened. Echoes, words taunting, flooding my mind. I took my final breath, as my world grew pitch black...

-Chapter 1-

My name is Ivy Ravenwood.

It's not easy being me. A witch in a normal town, full of normal people, doing normal things.

They will never know what it's like to be on the outside. They will never feel my pain. I've moved around a lot in my life but as of next Thursday I will have lived in the town of Savannah For 2 years. That's a record for me. I usually have to move every year or suspicions will rise. It's difficult to hide my powers and sometimes if I get angry or upset Ill do something like break a window or turn someone's hair green. Then I'll be moving to the next town. With all the drama at school I have a feeling I might be moving again soon. For the couple of years That I've lived here I've tried to fit in at school. I've tried to make friends but I'm too different. The complete opposite of Jackson High's typical popular girls. All fake tans and bleached hair and skirts that are 2 sizes too small. They strut down the halls in heels, sipping Starbucks, and making out with every guy on the football team. And of course they're all cheerleaders. And then there's me. I have fair skin, dark brown hair and wear the same beat up converse every day. Not to mention that my eyes are turquoise! Even the nerds think I'm a freak. Every day at school is the same. People laughing at my used pick up. Getting ignored when I try to start conversations. Sitting alone in the cafeteria. And worst of all getting teased by Candy and her Barbie doll minions. If it goes on any longer I swear I will make them regret it. It's about time I move anyway.

As I'm driving to school I feel something strange. A twist in my gut as I pull into the parking lot of Jackson high. It's like I'm nervous for something I'm not even aware of. I walk run to the school entrance with my head down to avoid stares. I have the feeling all through home room and it seems to get stronger as I make way to 2 period history. When I get to class sit down at a desk in the very back of the room to avoid getting pick to answer anything. After Mr.Peters takes the attendance there is knock at the door. Mr.Peters open the door and in walks the most gorgeous guy I have ever seen. His golden eyes scan the room until they fall on me. The feeling I've had all day escalates until I feel like I'm going to faint. Could the feeling have been his presence? I don't even know the guy! Our eyes lock for a second and I see something flicker across his face. Recognition? Amusement? And then Mr.Peters holds out his hand for the boy to shake and breaks our eye contact. He is introduced as Emmet and then he is sent to find a seat. That's when I realized that the only empty seat in the class is next to me. As he sits down I swear he he is looking at me. I don't dare to glance over in case he notices. All through class I can't focus on what is being read. All I know is that there is something about this boy. While the other girls swoon over the tan, buff jocks I have never so much as looked their way. They're all the same. Clones of the same personality. They may have the looks but they don't have the brains and you can't on them not to Cheat on you with 5 other girls. Emmett is different. He is fair skinned like me and he has messy brown hair. He's tall and muscular, but not like the other guys. He is not big and show offish buff but he's definitely in amazing shape. But most incredible are his eyes. They are gold. Not yellow but literally a beautiful shining gold. And the during the entire class I can feel them looking at me. I'm not sure if I should be flattered or if he is just judging me like everyone else just because I'm not a carbon copy if the typical Jackson high girl. Suddenly, the bell rings and everyone gets up to leave. Emmet doesn't get up right aways so I stall by pretending to fiddle with a keychain on my backpack. I want to see if he says anything to me. And then Mr.Peters tells us to leave and we stand up at the exact same time. As we rush towards the door his hand brushes mine and I shiver.

His hands are ice cold.
