REYS POV
I sat up in my bed, in an unfamiliar room. The guest house room. I looked over to see Will sleeping in the others bed, soundly. I looked at the clock as I got up.
7:03 am
I didn't bother trying to go back to sleep. I never could anyway. I continued to get ready and walked to the bathroom. I stepped into the bathroom, to tired to care that the door was closed.
"Dude! Holy crap! Get the hell out!" Harry yelled. I quickly closed my eyes and stepped out of the bathroom as Harry yelled out curse words at me.
"Ok! I'm sorry!!" I yelled back, pounding the door with my fist. I huffed and decided to just go downstairs. I quickly made and ate my breakfast, not wanting to deal with Harry. As I left the house and began to walk to the barn, I glanced at Riley's house. As I walked, my mind drifted to her. I glanced up at one of the open windows to see her brushing her hair. I watched as she turned to look out the window, her face furrowing to a frown as she closed the window. Crap. I continued walking to the barn and began to push open the door. It wouldn't budge! Then I heard crunching behind me.
"Need some help?" I young feminine voice asked. Riley came up beside me and pushed the door open with ease.
"Oh good, you got it unstuck." I smiled.
"It wasn't stuck." She deadpanned. I flushed red with embarrassment. I watched as she walked to the end of the alley and turned the corner. I decided against following incase I embarrassed myself more. With that, I began to tack up Abrazo, my white Arabian gelding.
RILEYS POV
What a wimp. He couldn't even open the barn door.
I walked around the corner to get all of Lizzas stuff. I only grabbed her bridle cause I was just doing some bareback jumping. I also grabbed some burgundy polos to match her palomino coat.
As I walked back down to her stall I saw Rey tacking up his white Arabian gelding.
"What his name?" I asked, leaning against the stall door.
"Abrazo." He patted the gelding as he said. I just nodded and walked down to Lizzas stall. She nickered in response. I began tacking her up, wrapping her polos and putting on the bridle. After I had finished I lead her to the outdoor arena, it was a clear blue day with a cool breeze. It was quite a cool day for June.
After I had finished and was mounted on her, I heard the gate open. I turned my head to see Rey and Abrazo all dressed in tack. I shook my head and clicked Lizza forward. We began with walk and halt transitions with some backing up. I warned her so for about 5 more minutes with walk-trot transitions. When I slowed her down to begin for some canter and organize the jumps, I watched Rey finish organizing a jump course.
"Why don't we have a little competition?" I offered. Just because I was bareback doesn't mean I perform worse.
"Sure, but you better watch out. Me and Abrazo are pretty good." He smirked. I just rolled my eyes and rode over to the fence.
The small course had five jumps. First there were two verticals, then an oxer, after that a cross rail and then a bit farther away for space, a combination of 2 jumps.
I watched as Rey got ready.
"Ok, go!" I said. Rey urged Abrazo into a canter. They came to the verticals and soared over them with ease, they were pretty small. Then they had a bit of time to turn for the oxer. They easily jumped that too. Then they had a few strides into the cross rail, but Abrazo faltered a bit and leaped over the jump, causing Rey to fall a bit forward and Abrazo sped up, going to fast towards the combo. They jumped the combo awkwardly and knocked both poles down, on either jumps. Rey pulled Abrazo to a walk and cooled him out. I just narrowed my eyes on the course and waited for Rey's signal. He said to start and Lizza already knew what to do. She flew over every jump with such ease, all I did was guide her. I felt her feet make a rhythmic beating sound underneath me. When we came to the combo, it felt like we were flying. We were flying.
After we had finished, Lizza hadn't even broke a sweat. I tilted my head in his direction, a smirk spread across my face. He just shrugged and readied Abrazo for a bit more practice. I internally grinned because he was obviously a sore loser. And a funny one at that.
