A/N - Pic is of the wonderful Collin :)

My stiff back ached from sleeping on the hard metal of the park bench. I stretched and got up, willing the aches all over my body to go away. I had to get up early today because I had to find a shower somewhere. I hadn't bathed in two days and things were starting to smell bad. The gas station nearby had some showers for the truckers so I was going to try to get into one of those. Hopefully they would let me because I wasn't too fond of the idea of going to school smelling like a literal dead animal.

I grabbed my backpack with my toiletries in it and headed over to the gas station. Luckily, the mean lady wasn't working so I had a chance at a shower. I walked up to the register as casually as possible and handed the guy manning the register a five and asked for a stall. He eyed me curiously but didn't say anything. He handed me change and told me that stall eight was ready for me.

The warm water felt good on my back. I quickly washed myself so I could have a few minutes to just stand under the water and let the knots in my muscles ease out.

I stepped out of the shower, got dressed, and walked back to the park. I threw my pack in my backseat, and went to head to school when I heard a familiar voice.

"DER-BEAR!" a girly voice yelled at me. I turned around to see Luna racing towards me, arms outstretched. My mother followed behind her, not making eye contact with me. I ran towards Luna and pulled her into a fierce but loving hug.

"What are you doing here, little bug?" I asked as we pulled away from the embrace.

"Mom said that I could go to the park before school! Really nice of her, don't ya think?"

I nodded in agreement before looking towards my mother. She had been watching the encounter with my little sister with distasteful eyes, as if I would 'infect' Luna with The Gay™. She approached me hesitantly. I thought I saw regret flash on her features, but I knew that I was most likely wrong.

The first thing she said to me made me want to kick her in the shins.

"If you wanted, I could try to convince your father to let you back into the house."

I glared at her, somewhat hoping that my gaze could burn holes in her skull.

"Don't even pull this shit with me," I responded before getting in my car. Luna crawled in and gave me one last hug.

"Have fun at school, Der-Bear," she said with obvious sadness in her tone. I hugged her back and kissed her forehead before pulling out of the lot.

Third period World Studies has got to be the absolute worst class that has ever existed. The people in the class are complete assholes and will never shut their mouths. And to top it off, the teacher has no backbone and is a complete idiot. If I could pick one class to drop from my schedule, it would be this one, without a doubt.

It is the first class I have with Isaac, but he won't meet my eyes for some reason. He will look at me and then shoot his eyes somewhere else, and then repeat the whole process. The whole thing was giving me an uneasy feeling.

He stopped me after the class had finally ended.

"Meet me in the parking lot after school. We need to have a chat."

He didn't give me a chance to reply before tearing down the hall, almost knocking a freshman down in the process. I could only imagine what had crawled up his ass. Whatever it was, I sure as hell didn't like it.

I exited the building through a side door, not wanting to fight my way through the main one. I saw Isaac waiting by my car so I started heading in that direction.

When I got to my car, I saw betrayal flash across Isaac's face right before he sent a right hook flying at my face. I attempted to duck, but was pressed against my car, so I had nowhere to go. The punch struck my jaw, sending black spots swimming through my vision.

"WHAT THE HELL?!" I screamed at Isaac, who backed away from me, visibly shaking, although I couldn't tell if it was from rage or adrenaline. He grabbed the hem of his shirt as an attempt to calm himself. My jaw was aching from the impact of his fist, and my lip had bust open and was bleeding.

"Why didn't you tell me?" he questioned.

"Why didn't you tell us?" said a new voice. I turned to find Emily walking around the car next to mine.

"What are you guys talking about?" I asked defensively.

Emily spoke before Isaac could. "Well, we went over to your house last night to see if you wanted to hang out because you weren't answering your texts. And your dad told us everything. Every. Little. Detail." She poked my chest with the last three words.

Shit. My poor excuse of a father had to come along and ruin everything, didn't he.

"Don't listen to them. They don't know what they're talking about." I offered weakly, but I knew that they didn't believe me.

"Oh honey, don't even try. We've been suspecting it for months." Emily sneered.

"Yeah, dude. You should've told us you were a fag." Isaac spat.

I tried to get in my car, but Isaac stopped me. He attempted to swing another hook at me, but missed this time. I scrambled for the handle on my door, but it was like the thing had disappeared. I closed my eyes and prepared myself for the punch that was sure to come, but it didn't.

"Is there a problem here?" I heard a familiar voice say. It was Collin.

"No, actually, there isn't," Emily started. "Isaac, let's get out of here."

"You're lucky your boyfriend saved you, fag!" Isaac called out at me before reluctantly following Emily.

"Are you okay?" Collin asked, brushing his fingers along my already spreading bruise.

"I'll be fine," I started but was cut off.

Collin had wrapped his arms around me, enveloping me in a gentle hug.

"Call me if they bother you again, okay?" he asked, although it wasn't a question.

"Okay." I responded and got in my car, leaving Collin alone in the parking lot. I wanted to go out there and thank him for helping me, but I knew that if I did, I would end up breaking down and I didn't want that.

I drove away from the school with only one thing on my mind.

Collin.
