"Something is dreadfully wrong with the fact mother and father left Josephine in charge," Ember stated angrily.
"We're about to be queens, why does she suspect she can always tell us how to do things?" Reyna questioned.
"We have five months before the coronation, and she's putting a lot more pressure on than is needed. This has to stop."
Alexander walked in, "I agree with you both, but how can we tell her off without making her angry?"
"That is almost completely impossible!"
The dinner bells rang, catching the attention of the three. They walked to the dining hall, contemplating what to tell Josephine.
There was a tense silence at the table once they entered the room.
Alexander cleared his throat, "Josephine..."
"Yes, dear?" Josephine asked.
Reyna looked around, waiting for one of her siblings to start. When they didn't, she started, "We're done with you pushing us around as if we don't have a clue what we're doing. I get it, there are rules, but we can figure it out on our own. And sure, you can help us, but don't turn into a dictator over it."
Josephine huffed, about to say something, but Ember cut her off, "Please hear us out on this topic. As you once said, we are twenty years old, we can figure this out. How else are we going to learn? The three of us haven't had this experience on our own and we need to get the feel of doing the job alone, or else we won't know how to do things when we are actually on our own."
Josephine huffed once more, "You brats wouldn't know a random act of kindness even if it hit you, huh?" she questioned, her hands in fists.
"And what exactly do you mean by that?" Alexander inquired.
"After your perfect parents died, I wanted to help you three and get you to be exceptional royalty. Of course, I am your closest individual to family, so I want you to learn everything the perfect way. And-" Josephine was cut off.
"Silence!" Another woman appeared in the center of the room. She looked disheveled and had long curly brown hair- which was starting to gray. "Josephine, dear, you are speaking lies and nonsense. Come, youngsters, sit down."
A look of question passed through the siblings, but they sat at the table.
"Can we get some food in here?" the woman asked before sitting down, "I haven't eaten in weeks!" she then turned to the triplets, "I've noticed your dilemma. I've seen the rules. Josephine, there is not a single thing wrong with these three ruling in unity, so why not let them?"
"And who might you be, peasant?" Josephine interrogated.
"Someone who actually cares for these future queens and king, unlike you," the woman replied, a stern glare in her eyes.
"Nonsense, you've never even met them. Now get out of my castle before I call my guards," Josephine spat.
"You can't do that, darling," the woman stated quietly, "You have no legal power over these children or these guards."
The siblings had no idea who to believe, "Tell us who you are and maybe we'll talk," Alexander commanded.
"It's a deal. My name is Reynember, and I am a sorceress. I knew your parents better than anyone else has. While Josephine was your caretaker, I was on a mission to find a magical substance for your health. You see, you were so young I'm not sure you would remember. At the age of three, you were very sick, Alexander. It led to the illness of your sisters as well, and it was only getting worse. Serephina and Alexander II sent me on a quest to find the antidote, because only I was brave enough to take the route. I was too late because you all miraculously healed. Although you regained health, I still wanted to acquire it, but new of your parents' death spread fast. As soon as I found the antidote I made my way here. Now I come back to find Josephine going against your parents, which is such a shame."
"So what's your point," Josephine snapped.
"My point is I can help these three get what they want. They can rule together, but not in the same castle. I can build two other castles. Be warned. Don't let royalty overtake you, or you'll want the throne to yourselves. Arguments will submerge, and you could become thirsty for power."
"All due respect, but I'm not sure if that will happen with us, Reynember," Ember stated.
"Then don't let it happen," A single wave of Reynember's hand caused an earthquake.
Five miles across the kingdom, in the forest, many trees twisted and turned into odd shaped, forming doors and windows into the cliffs. The formation rose, gaining height quickly. Just as Reynember had promised, another castle stood in the place of the trees. The full-moon light shone upon it in a peaceful matter.
"The individual who takes over that castle will be named Keeper of the Forests. And trust me, that building is bigger than it looks. It was carved inside of the cliffs, so there was a lot of room to fill."
Another earthquake occured. Five miles in the other direction, in the plains, the ground rose in a sheltering shape. In the night sky you could see a tall, broad, stone fortress.
"Ruler of the Plains, which I might add has a great oceanic view. Careful children, no arguments about this one."
"You never should have done that. I hope you realize how much you'll regret that in the future..." Josephine threatened, standing up and stomping out of the room.
"How can I help, king and queens?"
"Flattering, but the titles are not ours yet. We still have five months," Reyna finally spoke.
"You are going to rule Arailia, aren't you?" Reynember questioned.
"This kingdom isn't ours to rule," Alexander replied, "We should not be ruling this young and unready anyway, but these are the rules."
"A noble gesture. However, this is your kingdom."
"No Alexander is right, this kingdom should be ruled by the people, not by us. You've seen us, we're incredibly immature-" Ember was cut off.
"You're wrong. All of you. You three may be immature, but that's what makes you unique. You are the first who had questioned the guidelines of royalty. To defy them. I can already tell you all will rule greatly together."
"Well thank you, but I have a feeling we are not ready," Reyna tried.
"Nonsense. You were born to do this," the old woman vanished.
*For me It is Monday night. I have decided to update a little early because tomorrow I have a lot I need to do. I hope you enjoyed the chapter!*
