Like most people I don't care too much for moving, but eh what the hell.. I was only 11 when my parents announced to the entire family that we would be moving from our small family home out in Santa Barbara California, to a city central apartment in Minneapolis Minnesota. I, being the naive 11 year old girl that I was couldn't bare to feel any emotion other than happiness, I hardly got out enough to explore my own city, let alone other states. Although I knew I'd miss my family, nothing could hold back the excitement I had felt just from the though of being somewhere where I wasn't cooped up in a place where I felt I'd met everyone my age. Day after Night I dreamt of what Minnesota was like, how pretty the snow must've been, how cozy the fires! When suddenly I woke to a roar of various voices... "YOU CAN'T JUST TAKE ME FROM HER! SHE NEEDS ME!!" Jacob (my 16 year old brother) yelled, "Oh She Does Not NEED you! Jacob you will be FINE, we are moving and that's the end of it!" said my mother puting up a compelling arguement. I felt terrible for my brother having to leave his girlfriend Lydia, but I figured there are probably plenty girls out in Minnesota for him to soon be pining over... Meanwhile my older sister Shanelle seems to be packing more rapidly than I, seemingly more excited as well. I can only imagine how Ally and Desiree feel about this, (my 9 year old twin sisters) I mean.. they love it here! I can't blame them, we all grew up here. My stuff is all packed for tomorrow the Uhaul is STUFFED, I guess I will miss it here.
________________________________________________"Rise and Shine! Moving Time!! Everybody up, up, up!" mom shouted. I know I was energetic about this but she's taking it a step too far. "Mommm it's 6am Shanelle wined, "Yeah, well what can you do? Cross-Country moving waits for no man!" mom said enthusiastically, "Wow! stuffed to the max! Haha! MAX!" dad snarked sarcastically, "Haha! good one." I said chomping down a bagel, and making my way to the car. <inhales deeply> "WOULD YOU GET A WHIFF OF THAT?!" Jacob shouted with his headphones still partially on blasting 'Skywalker' By Miguel, "Jacob what the hell is wrong with you! Turn your voice down!" Dad gave him a sharp look then continued to the car, "My bad dad shit, I was just telling all you star-struck idiots to get a whiff of that nice damp air while you still can, cause I've heard they don't have much of that out in 'Miny-Sota'." snarked Jake. "I don't give a flying fuck as long as we leave now." said Shanelle making her way to the van, while she dragged her skull-print infested suitcase along and continuously pulled her blanket that was now dragging along the sidewalk back up over her shoulder. The twins waddled out to the car clearly not happy about this trip, but evidently not having a choice or matter of opinion. "Alright! HERE WE GO, Say goodbye to Cali!" our parents screeched in unison pulling the van as well as the extra large Uhaul behind us out of the driveway and making a dart for the freeway. This only made me realize how much we were really leaving behind, no real goodbyes, no more family pool parties, no more anything, this was it... Goodbye California. And, little did I know how much this move was going to change my life.
