The days passed by and along came Friday. Looking back, I'm glad I was able to make it through the week.
Being assigned cafeteria duty was definitely embarrassing. I would gone mad if I had to serve another cutlet to a sniggering group of girls but thankfully the lunch ladies were quite an entertaining group of gals, and I somehow survived because of them.
After class, I had to stay behind for detention. It wasn't as life draining as the first few days because I managed to sneak in a few swimming tutorial books. This kept me well occupied.
Overall, the aftermath of the cafeteria incident seriously took a toll on my chances of getting into the team. But I'm not going to give up so easily! I just have to get in a few extra hours of practice during the weekend and perhaps with a few tips from Jenny I might just stand a chance.
I was lost in these thoughts when I heard that glorious sound. "triiiiing triiiiiiiiing" The school bell screeched through the hallways and it was melody to my ears. The clock had struck 4 pm and I was finally able to go home. I placed my hand on the door handle, just inches away from freedom when I heard someone shout my name.
I groaned. what now?
It was Isabella Smith. I wasn't surprised that she was hanging around after school hours considering the number of clubs that she was a part of and even headed! She's a pretty good swimmer as well and Jenny told me that she's been in the team longer than anyone else.
"Ari! I'm so glad I caught up with you!"
She stopped for awhile to catch her breath. She must have been searching for me for quite a while.
"Oh hey Isabella, what's up ?"
"They're calling you, in the principal's room. NOW. I think you'd better hurry."
