I slammed my hand down on my alarm clock. It stopped beeping. I wiped my eyes before getting out of bed. I trudged over to my closet. I chose a camouflage sweatshirt and skinny jeans. I took them into the bathroom and changed. I put my hair into a French braid. I went back into my closet and slipped on my pair of black Toms. Î slipped my iPhone in my back pocket and put my laptop in my backpack. I grabbed it and went downstairs. I put my blueberry waffles in the toaster and leaned against the counter.

Nick walked into the kitchen resembling a zombie. He poured a glass of orange juice and got the cereal down.

"How late did you stay up last night?" I asked him while he poured his Foot Loops.

He ignored me as he sat at the island. My waffles popped up. I put them on a plate and added syrup and butter. I stood at the counter and ate since Nick was in a bad mood.

"I'm leaving at six, with or without you." I said between bites. Nick had crashed his last car and our parents refused to buy him a new one. He started eating faster and when he was finished, he bolted out of the kitchen. I smiled. Nick hated walking to school. I finished my waffles and made my round trip checking that the doors were locked. When I grabbed my bag and walked out the front door, I found Nick leaning against my truck. I got in the driver's side and Nick slid in the backseat. I picked up Harley and started on the way to school.

"Would you do me the honor of letting me escort you to prom?" Nick said.

"Sorry, Nick, but you're not my type." Harley said.

"Not you. I'm practicing for Louise." he said, annoyed.

Harley made an o shape with her mouth and went back to texting. I pulled into the parking lot of the school. We got out and filed into the school. I made my way to my locker. I jumped when I felt arms wrapped around my waist.

"Would you like to keep going out after prom?" Josh's breath tickled my ear.

"Yeah." I said. I closed my locker and turned around. Josh's face was inches from mine. My breath quickened. He smiled and kissed my cheek before walking to his next class. I took off towards history.

My eyelids closed and I forced them open. History was extremely boring. The bell rang and I was the first out of the classroom. I opened my locker and replaced my English binder with my history binder. I closed my locker and turned around to have someone slap me in the face. I caught a glimpse of Louise's face before she turned around and stalked off. I walked to English, confused.

Being a senior, we have lunch first. After English I walked to the lunchroom with my lunch in my hand. I met Harley and we sat at our usual table with my other friends, Sydney and Mira.

"The weirdest thing happened. I was heading to English and Louise came up and slapped me." I told them.

"Well, you and Josh are dating right?" Sydney asked.

"Yeah."

"Louise is Josh's ex."

"Oh, that explains a lot."

Louise walked up to their table. Nick was with her.

"I'm sorry about earlier. It's just that, Josh's breakup was still kind of raw. I'm fine now." she apologized.

"It's okay, I totally get it." I said.

She smiled and walked away with Nick trailing after her. I turned back to my friends and started talking like nothing happened.

I struggled to concentrate the rest of the day. I was relieved when the final bell rang. I walked out to my truck. Before I opened the drivers door, I noticed scratches like claws on the handle. I shrugged and got in. After school, Harley had track and Nick had football. So I rode by myself. I got home and walked inside my house and flopped down on the couch. The front door swung open and I heard someone walk in. I got up from the couch and saw Josh standing in the door.

"Josh? What are you doing here?" I asked him.

"We just moved into the house next door." he said as he closed the door.

"Oh."

"Yeah." he stood there awkwardly.

"Well, you won't have to go very far to pick me up for prom."

"Yeah that's true." I heard someone call his name from outside.

"Well, I gotta go. See ya Friday." he smiled and left.

I took my backpack up to my room. I took out my homework and sat on my bed. I turned on my radio and started my math homework. An hour later, after I had moved on to my science homework, Josh walked in my room.

"Hey, didn't you have football practice today?" I asks without looking up.

"I was excused because my parents wanted me to unpack my stuff as soon as possible. Your house is huge." he said.

"Yeah, it's one of the perks of being rich." I said, sarcastically.

"Your room looks like a grand hotel room." he said as he looked around the room. He flopped on my bed beside me. "Watcha doin'." he said like Isabella from Phineas and Ferb.

"homework." I said the same way he said it. I finished the last problem. "Done." I said flopping back on my pillows. I dropped the papers onto the floor beside my bed. Josh smiled and laid his head on my thigh and started tapping a rhythm on my shin. Nick walked in and flopped on my bed.

"Why does everyone hang out in my room?" I asked, waving my arms in the air.

"Cause we loooove you." Nick said innocently. I rolled my eyes. Nick gave me a devilish smile and went back to his room. I got up and grabbed my favorite sweatpants out of my closet and went to the bathroom to change. I slid my jeans off and slid the sweatpants on. I tossed my jeans in the hamper when I went back into my room. I walked out the room and went down to the kitchen. Josh followed me curiously.

"What are you doing?" he asked me when I started to take out stuff to make spaghetti.

"Making dinner. What did you think you were going to eat." I responded. I turned on the kitchen radio.

"Can I help you?" he asked.

"If you want to." I shrugged my shoulders. He smiled and put a pan full of water on the stove for the noodles. I got the noodles down from the pantry and got the sauce. When the water was boiling, I dumped the noodles in it. When we were finished, I put it on plates and set them on the table. I poured soda in all the glasses and put them by the plates. I went back in the kitchen and put the pan in the sink. I turned around and saw Josh staring at me.

"What?" I said.

"Don't move." I froze.

"Why?"

"Cause the light is catching your beautiful face just right." he said as he walked over to me. I blushed at the complement. He lifted my chin so I was looking into his eyes. He closed his eyes and pressed his lips to mine. I felt is hands wrap around my waist and pull me closer. My hands rested on his chest as I surrendered to his kiss. I felt his tongue begging for entrance so I opened my mouth and let I tongue dip in. One of his hands traveled up my back and I put my hands on the back of his neck. I quickly pulled back when I heard Nick clear his throat. Josh's hand stayed on my waist as we turned to look at him. He had a smirk on his face as he walked into the dining room. I followed him. We had a weird conversation. When we were done, I spent the rest of the night watching Netflix.
