A small child sat on the floor, tears streaming down her face. A mangled corpse lay beside her, blood pooling beneath it. A man walks into the room and sees the horrifying sight of his daughter crying beside his wife's cold lifeless body "D-Desirae, you did this, didn't you?" The man looks down towards his crying daughter, shock and horror etched onto his features.

Desirae was told to sit in her room and not move. Her father made multiple phone calls to someone and a man showed up at their door. Even though she was told to stay in her room, that didn't mean she wouldn't listen to the conversation behind the wooden door. "Take her away. I can't stand the sight of my wife's murderer. That monster!" Her father yelled at the stranger in their house. "As you wish" The man's voice echoed through the air and Desirae could sense how sinister the situation truly was.

"Why?" Desirae muttered softly "Why do you do this to me?" The man didn't reply and continued to drag her towards the cold metal slab that was covered in blood and other unmentionable things. She swallowed knowing what was going to come.

"Please, not again" she said in barely a whisper, yet it echoed through the dim hallway. Desirae could already feel her eyes begin to moisten as the scent of death filled her nostrils. She was picked up roughly and dropped on the slab. She offered no resistance for she knew what would happen if she did. Metal clamps tightened around her wrists and ankles. The sound of a surgical drill could be heard loudly throughout the room. The bloodied drill entered into her vision and she saw it move towards her hand. Desirae tried to resist the urge to scream but as soon as she felt it begin to pierce her hand she couldn't stop the horrifying, animalistic screams that left her throat. She fell unconscious soon after they began to drill through her other hand.

When she awoke she was back in the grimy, vacant cell that was her home. Her throat hurt and so did her hands and ankles. She shakily looked at her hands and saw unfamiliar metal spots directly in the palm of both of her hands, it was the same for her ankles. She couldn't understand why, why they had decided to perform tests on her just because she was different, just because she had powers. She decided then and there that she had had enough of this hell, enough of this torture that she had endured for so long. Desirae had tried many times to escape. Each time she had been caught, but this time she felt something click inside of her, something that pushed her over the edge, beyond the shattering point of her sanity.

She waited patiently for the next day to come, letting fury fester in her mind, making her blood boil. The man appeared once again as he did every day to come and take her. He opened the mildewy, cell door with a creak and then tried to grab Desirae with his cold and clammy hands. She batted his hands off with ease and looked towards the man who had tortured her for so long. She could feel all her hatred and anger towards the man push out all at once; the bubbling, acidic rage all being forced into one moment in time. The man suddenly clutched at his chest gasping as blood began to run from his nose and his eyes down his chin. He began to flail wildly, until he collapsed to the floor. All his movement stopped and he was breathing no more.

She felt a wide grin creep onto her face, now he was finally gone. She began to laugh a bitter maniacal laugh and then stepped over the contorted, bloody corpse of her torturer. She left the cell on shaky legs, breathing heavily and stepped into the corridor, her feet hitting the cold cement with every step she took forward. She began to run down the hallway with a sense of reckless abandon knowing with every step she took she was closer to finding her way out, to freedom.
