I woke doing my usual morning routine. Washed my hair ate breakfast, etc. God I love food.

Andrew texted me that he wouldn't be picking me up this morning because he had a thing. So I walked to school.

The school bell rang and I headed straight to my locker. It's already third period and Andrew is still not here.

"Hey." it was my best friend Clair. Her voice sounded unusual.

I closed my locker door to see her face. Her warm brown eyes turned cold and it was filled with shadows of depression and dejection.

"You're dad finally let's you date." she tried to crack a smile to cover up her sadness

"Yeah but never mind about that. What's wrong?" I tilt my head to see if I can figure it out.

She bit her lip trying to hold back her tears.

I sighed.

Unexpectedly she grabbed my wrist and we headed straight towards the girls bathroom.

"Uh... some explaining?" I said as I waved my arms in the air to represent why are we in the bathroom.

She went over and looked under each stall.

"Err... Clair?" I crossed my arms with one eyebrow raised.

"Promise you won't tell anyone?"

"Yeah sure, we're best friends." I agreed not knowing where this was going.

"I'm running away."

I burst into laughter but stopped and saw that she was serious.

"You're going to stay over my house for a day or something." I shifted my feet and leaned against the sink.

"Emily I'm serious."

"But why?"

"I got pregnant..." she said staring at her feet.

My jaw opened and didn't say anything.

"I was going to get an abortion but I decided to keep 'it'." she lightly smiled at me."

I just stood there and starred blankly at her.

"I wanted to say good-bye."

"Who's the father." I said with a straight face.

"Dean."

"Does he know?"

She nodded at me.

"But why can't you stay with someone you know. Everyone you know is here."

"We were planning to move together after we graduated but now since... you know." she held her belly "Why not now. Plus my parents have been really hard to stand."

"Oh."

"I'm leaving tonight."

"Well, bye. I'll miss you." I got off the sink and hugged her.

"I'll text you. You can come over to our place anytime or if maybe you and Andrew decide to runaway. Turns out he's rich so things will be great." she let go of me and smiled.

I felt a tear come out of my eye. "Ok. But why would me and Andrew ever runaway with each other. We would never do that." I tried to laugh

She shrugged and headed out of the bathroom.

"Hey babe."

Andrew finally came.

"Where have you been?"

He shrugged " Relaxing... School isn't really a place I like to be. But I have to be here."

I laughed "Says the guy that told my dad that education was important."

"I didn't say that exactly. But I kind of lied to him about it."

"You little bad-ass." I smiled.

"I'm not a bad boy, Em." he smiled. "Well are you ready to leave?"

"You mean ditch school with you again?"

"No. Today's a half a day. Like I said I'm not a bad guy." he raise his hands up to look all innocent

Oh wow. No wonder the halls were quiet.
