Definitely Green

There had always been major tension between Harry and his mum's new boyfriend. It was only the second time Harry had met Johnny; it was a tense meetimg between the two lads, both of them eyeing one another down on account of asserting their male dominance. They absolutely loathed each other and the common factor of that hate was Anne Cox.

   The way Harry saw it, Johnny Tomlinson was slowly, and perhaps unknowingly, stealing his mum, who had been the sole contributor to all aspects of Harry's twenty years of life. His natural father, Seth, had never been there for Harry or his family in any way. Johnny, being the great, responsible man he was (depending on who you're to speak with) decided that it was his duty as soon-to-be father figure to two kids, and having a few of his own, to take the Cox/Styles family under his guidance as if they were his family from the start. The unspoken idea was implied by Johnny's frequent night visits to Harry's home, and the constant reference to Harry and Gemma as his own son and daughter.

   So that's really how Harry and John's silent fued began. Unbeknownst to Johnny, he had offended Harold by taking his title as Man of the House. Another thing that didn't sit too well with Harry was the fact that Anne was all his. With Seth's absence,  Harry was brought up as a 'mummy's boy', never too far from Anne and always able to tell her anything and everything. In Harry's mind Johnny was taking that away with the numerous invitations to lunches at Anne's favourite sandwhich shop, lavish dinners, and shopping trips on the strip of shops and boutiques in downtown Holmes Chapel.

   Harry's obvious anger and jealousy then caused John to get frustrated because he just couldn't for the life of him understand why on Earth Harry could be so bitter with him; John just wanted to give Harry something he'd assumed Harry always wanted. So, Johnny came to this conclusion: Harry was ungrateful and unappreciative. Truthfully, though, Harry only wanted to keep and protect what was his. And maybe if Harry and John gave one another a chance, Harry would still be close to Anne and Louis would still be close to John.
