Lizzie was still wondering about what Lily had meant that morning when Becky walked in her room. Lizzie was just about to email Elle and tell her what had happened the past two days since she last emailed her, about the crazy lake accident and Lily, and Jordan. Not that there was anything worth saying. The only encounter she had with Jordan already happened during the kitchen. Thinking about it made her crazy. She couldn't get the feel of his fingers, caressing her skin, out of her head.
It was making her head want to explode, and just forget it. But she couldn't. Instead, she wanted more and the thought scared her. Was she really starting to like Jordan? As in, in that way?
"Tomorrow is Spencer's Bachelor party," Becky announced, flopping down on Lizzie's bed.
"And you're telling me this because…" Lizzie raised her eyebrows at Becky. She knew that Becky knew that she didn't like Spencer. So what was the point in telling her that Spencer's B-Party would be tomorrow? To tell her that there was really going to be wedding? Or, she was going invited to his bachelor party?
"I'm invited?" Lizzie supplied, voicing her thoughts aloud.
Becky laughed. "No, silly. Sally will be alone and that can't happen," she shuddered dramatically, "We've planned a Bridal Shower for her and you, my dear younger sister, are invited. Of course, Suzanne and Donna and all her high-school and college girl friends will be there," Becky answered. "And of course, all the people where Sally's working. Plus mom will be there and Spencer's mom," she continued.
"Everything seems to be in order," Lizzie said frowning. So the wedding was going to push through. There was absolutely no way of stopping it, unless of course, she'd think of humiliating herself in front of a church full of people. She run down the aisle screaming she loves Spencer and doesn't want him to marry a woman who was so wrong for him.
Lizzie shook the image away and gave an involuntary shudder. Yuck, scary thought.
She wasn't that desperate to stop the wedding. All she wanted was assurance; assurance from Spencer that he really wasn't going to leave Sally. With Robbie, he had even taken time to be close to Lizzie, to sort of win her support. And Tanya and Stephanie, well, they were also women and Lizzie became fast friends with them. They would ask her questions she only knew about John and Luke. As for Matt and Mark, Lizzie was definitely friends with their fiancée's. After all, the twins were probably her closest siblings in the family.
But in Spencer's case, well, all Lizzie had of him was a bad memory and a broken heart, which was not his.
"Penny for your thoughts?" Becky murmured, waving a hand in front of Lizzie's face.
Lizzie blinked. She looked at Becky and sighed deeply. Then she looked away. Everyone in her family was getting married. "I was just thinking," she mumbled with a shrug.
"Liz, you've been my sister for eighteen years," Becky said, cocking her head to the side. "And I know you, and I know that look of yours that warns me that I should keep Matt and Mark away."
Lizzie looked up and raised her eyebrows. "Why should you keep the twins away?"
"Watch it," Becky replied with a laugh. "You know how much they hate being referred to as 'the twins'," she explained, and Lizzie grinned in understanding. As much as Mark and Matt loved doing things together, they didn't want to always be associated with each other. Each of them had their own identity they wanted others to see. "What I mean is, it's that serious look of yours and you know, Matt and Mark are anything but. They'll only end up teasing for looking so like someone died."
"Oh, I get it," Lizzie said, shaking her head. She couldn't forget the countless times her two brothers had teased the death out of her. When she wanted to be serious, they were being funny. She remembered when she was young and they always wanted someone to play their pranks on. And of course, Lizzie was the most gullible one, so she was always the recipient of those pranks. Then midway through growing up, Matt and Mark let her join their 'prank group' and they brought chaos to everyone in the house from dropping water balloons, to putting sticky glue inside hand gloves and much more than that.
