A Novel By: Alina Gaudio'What are the words that haunt you most?'
Those are the last words I ever heard her say. It's funny how those are the words that haunt me.So we start our story as many start, in a small little village. Just kidding, I wouldn't do that to you. No, we really start our story with a girl. A wonderful, amazing girl, who was different, but in a good way. She was, as you say, completely brilliant.
She was tall, but not too tall, with wavy brown hair, a pretty smile, and brilliant blue eyes. Is she not sounding different yet? Just wait. So by now you're probably wondering what this completely brilliant girl's name is. Well let's start by saying her name is Basil. Brilliant, beautiful Basil with blue eyes. Different right? I told you, and now for my name, well, it's me... Simon.
It was a usual breezy day, august 28th 2098, so a normal day. Basil was on her way to the school factories. In building 2810, section 9, sub-section class 320, Mind Status : INCONCLUSIVE. So you may be confused, what does this mean? Well in truth it's just numbers. To the foolish it means nothing, but to the wise it means everything. The wise run everything, we've just been told to call them that, and I hate it. Your school, or learning quadrant, is your "family". These are prisons. Bars on the windows, chained chairs, and hard beds, with minimal rations. In truth, the real prisons would be much preferable, because they don't exist. See even the petty thief gets the death penalty. The wise are harsh that way, and every other way imaginable as well. But that's only if you're caught.
These prisons teach you manners, and basically how to be alive and how to gain knowledge. They also teach you right from wrong, but they teach it backwards, at least that's what Basil said. As you mind have been able to tell so far, she was high-spirited, and rebellious. Anyways back to the meaningless numbers. The prisons or buildings are sorted into sections, or floors I guess you would call them, like in an old apartment building. Then the floors are divided into sub-sections, or rooms. This is where your "main family" as the elders call it, live and learn, like classrooms. And it's why they're called sub-section classes. But you don't keep the same class, our world isn't ruled by age, age is meaningless. Our world is run on knowledge. To quote Basil,
'When you're knowledgeable, it doesn't always mean you're wise.'
What the wise never told us is what they did with the people who were smarter then them. But the wise always told the public, and their families that these children were called fatals. What we thought this meant, and what they fooled us into believing is that these kids couldn't function in normal society, that they were dangerous. So they took them away. But there were a few flaws in their system that they used to determine a persons mind status. This meant that, they couldn't find their mind status right away so they would have to test them to figure it out. About 10% of the population are INCONCLUSIVES, including Basil, and me.
The reason we don't run away from it all is because they control us. It's all to do with minds, you see. The wise like to play games, but they're definitely not party games.

Yay! Okay so that's the first bit of my new story I hope you liked it! I'm sorry that it was kind of boring and strange. This part just gives you an idea of what's happening, and what everything is so it's less confusing. Anyway if you liked it comment and vote, I'd really appreciate it. The neat part will be more on who Basil is and how her and Simon met, I'm super excited too continue writing this and I hope you're as excited to keep reading. I'm not too sure when I'll update but it will probably be soon. I'll keep you posted.
