Dear Diary,

So today is my first day of the eighth grade. I hope I don't mess up anything!

What if I have to be the class president? Everyone would hate me!

So right now I'm in the car on my way to school-- oh I see it. It's rather big with it's green walls and American flag on top. I now see why it's called "Jōal High" . I wonder if there are even cool people there.

It's rather quiet and lonely, and I am just wondering.. am I late? Is everyone early? Do I look okay? Those thoughts are running through my mind.

I got off the car and continuing with my entry.

* NARRATOR POV*

As Katie walked through the school entrance gates, she noticed silence. She continued to walk until the front door. She took a deep breath, put her hand on the handle, and whispered to herself," I can do this. I will be the cool one again. " She continued to say that. She twisted the old rusty door knob and tried to open the door. It was locked! She was just standing there, alone. Then a girl, about the same age as her, walked up to her with her emo-ness and asked, monotonously," Why are you here?"

Katie replied,

" Isn't it the first day of school? I'm in the eighth grade and I'm an exchange student.."

The emo girl replied,

" School doesn't start until next week, new girl. Just stay out of my territory."

Just like that, she left.

Katie had a weird feeling about this school. She couldn't believe it.

The emo girl came back to Katie and asked for her name. Katie told her, and she started laughing, then she told Katie her name, Ruby.

" Where are you from? Your accent is weird! " Ruby asked, laughing.

" I'm from Amsterdam," Katie replied, slightly annoyed. Then she realised what she was doing, talking to a loser!? I don't think so. Time to show her the new boss around here.

" a much more decent place than, well, this. " Katie said sarcastically.

Ruby's eyes widened, she said

" If your beautiful Amsterdam was better than California, why in Hershey's did you move here?! Huh new girl?"

Katie was dumbfounded. She couldn't believe she was outsmarted by a loser like Ruby.

" Ha, just as I thought." Ruby said, and left.

Katie stood rooted to the ground, shocked once again.
