Win My Heart 2

Author's Note: Takes place after the rebellion and the end of the books :3

You heard a knock on the door of your apartment, and opened it to see a tall, dark haired male with grey eyes standing there.

"Hey Gale." You greeted, opening the door wider to let him in.

"Hey __y/n__." Gale said politely as he stepped inside.

You had met Gale when he moved to District 2, and at first he wasn't very friendly, but over time he opened up more. You learned about how he had loved this girl, but she didn't love him, and it didn't work out. You learned about his family and his childhood and basically almost everything about him.

You also learned that you liked Gale. A lot. A lot more than a friend should.

"So what do you want to do tonight?" You asked while, in Gale's opinion, tilting your head cutely. Every Friday night, if Gale got off from work early enough, he'd come over and you two would watch a movie or talk or do anything really.

"Watch a movie?" Gale suggested. You nodded, and grabbed the remote from your coffee table before settling down on the couch next to Gale, completely oblivious to the way he was looking at you as you fiddled with the touch screen on the remote.

"What movie do you want to watch?" You asked, turning your head to look at Gale, only to see him staring at you. You furrowed your brows slightly in confusion; why was he staring at you?

Gale noticed that you looked incredibly adorable when you were confused. Gale liked being around you; you made him forget about Katniss' rejection and Prim and everyone who died, and Gale liked it. He liked being able to forget, and, he was finally starting to realize, he liked you.

Gale leaned across the couch and pecked your lips before grabbing the remote and picking a random old movie. The hologram popped up on the wall opposite your couch, and the movie's intro started playing, but you were too preoccupied with what Gale just did to pay attention. Gale casually draped an arm over your shoulders and pulled you gently into his side, causing a startled you to scramble away.

"What are you doing?" You asked quietly. "I thought you still liked Katniss..." Gale's grey eyes locked with your __e/c__ ones, and trapped you in their penetrating gaze. Gale slowly shook his head, the corners of his mouth tilting up in a slight smile.

"I don't." Gale said simply, not elaborating or telling you why he had kissed you or held you in a way that only couples did. Gale smiled at you, before leaning in and once again pressing his lips to yours. You fought back for a moment, thinking he must be sick or tired or something because why would Gale want to kiss you?, before you gave in. You kissed back gently, and Gale's hand found its way to the back of your neck while yours hung limply at your sides.

"Thank you for helping me forget." Gale said softly after he broke the kiss. You merely nodded before leaning into his side and focusing on the movie. Gale pressed a quick kiss to your temple before he too turned so that he was looking at the movie.

Moving to District 2 was, in both yours and Gale's opinion, one of the best decisions of Gale's life.
