Chapter Two: Haunting Memories

I didn't sleep at all last night. I stayed up reading under my blanket, blissfully unaware of the chaos I had just unleashed. I slowly reach up and slip the blanket off of my head and look at the light that was trickling through my opened curtains. I groan, pull the blanket closer around me and shut my eyes, praying for more sleep. Something hit me and I snap my eyes open and stare at the window. I could of sworn I had shut the curtains last night. I look to the door to see if it had been opened by my mum, but it was still shut like it had been last night.
I stand up and head to my window to peer out. The ground and surrounding houses were blanketed with thick, white snow. I sigh, Welcome to Alaska, where it snows all day everyday. I open my door with a loud creaking sound and head down the stairs to see whether my mother had come out of hibernation yet. Evidently, no as I couldn't smell coffee anywhere.
My eyes roll East to West as I scan the kitchen. Cream and white coloured tiles cover the wall, a small island in the middle glints as a small ray of sun hits it. I sigh and head back upstairs. I'll just starve again, I never eat anyway. I get hungry, sure, but I don't care. I head into the bathroom and turn the shower on. Steam fills the room and I stare into it until I remember I was wasting the water. I was in and out in 10 minutes. I shove on a grey sweater that says 'All Monsters Are Human', some jeggings and some black trainers. I look in the mirror and pull a face, waiting for it to crack and splinter into a thousand pieces. My skin was so pale I looked like a vampire, my eyes were so red they looked like some circles of blood and my hair looked flat out white. Albino. Freak. Weirdo. Every name under the sun.
I look away and head back into my room. I sit on my bed and flick through my phone. No notifications. Not a surprise. I sigh and turn it off. I swing my bag on to my bag and head out the house. I groan when I realise I forgot the key. I try opening the door again but it was locked. I look down at my watch. 06:07. Brilliant. "Well over two hours early. Great, time to strut around for two hours," I mutter, heading down the snow logged street.

ONE HOUR LATER

I check my watch again to see I've only been out for an hour. I sigh and brush the snow off the top of my head. I was sat on a bench in the park and I had fallen asleep, unsurprisingly. I look up and see the silhouette again. I choke when I see the blood dripping from its mouth. I blink several times fast to get rid of the sleep in my eyes but it had disappeared. I shuddered and stand up. I start heading in the direction of school. It usually takes me half an hour but with the thickness of this snow, it was going to take me another 10.

41 MINUTES LATER

I arrive at school but there's not as many people outside as there usually is. I pull a face, probably gonna use the snow as an excuse that they couldn't get to school.
I see my friend, Nayomi, and head over to her. She doesn't look herself. Her brown hair is messy, the bags under her eyes could probably hold a weeks worth of a families food shopping and her clothes weren't ironed and looked like they had been thrown on at random.
She doesn't turn around when I shout her so I just walk up to her. A wind picks up and her hair blows to the left along with the ends of her shirt. I shout her again but she doesn't turn. I frown and turn around to see more people flocking behind me. I start panicking as déjà vu hits me but I can't place it on what. I run forward and shout her again. She turns and smiles. She flickers and the silhouette appears again, blood trickling through razor sharp teeth. I scream and then everything turns back to normal. Well, as close to normal as it'll ever be again.
