On the run

Chapter 1: Introduction

Adams P.O.V.

My name is Adam Mitchel Lambert. I am 16 and I have abusive parents. I'm also gay which makes it worse. I have a little brother named Neil who is 12. I of course do my best to protect him from our parents. Yeah,that means I take a few more hits but I'd do anything to keep him safe. I am of course a sophomore in high school. So I officially have been "Out" if you get what i mean since last year at the beginning of the school year. In middle school i used to be very shy but now i'm about normal. I'm in drama obviously cause I love to sing, act, dance, and dress up. Well today is an average day it is May 25th and Monday we decided on doing Peter Pan(as a play obviously) for the school play this year and I'm gonna be Peter Pan (well at least i tried out yesterday.) Today I find out from Mrs.Jackson if I got the role and who got the other roles.

I wake up to the best thing ever...just kidding the sun shinning bright directly in my eyes through the window as the alarm on my phone goes off. I get up and get dressed. Today I felt normal so i just threw on some black skinny jeans a long-sleeved(as usual) white shirt ad grabbed my leather jacket. I went to the bathroom to apply a bit of eyeliner and a little foundation to cover up the bruise on my cheek from when mom slapped me yesterday.Then I as usual wake up Neil and tell him to get ready. I sit on my phone watching a YouTube video and keeping track of time as i wait for Neil to be ready. When Neil's ready I grab my backpack and we get on the bus together since his school is on the way to mine. We say goodbye before he gets off the bus and enters the school. Finally we reach my school and I get off the bus along with the other high school kids. I walk to my locker and grab my books then off to 1st period with Mrs.Taylor.

At lunch I of course sit with my friends Sutan , Allison, and Monte as usual. Every so often we'll be joined by Camila but she usually hangs out with the popular kids. I glance to the uncovered area shaded by trees where I see a gorgeous Blonde with his friend. I look for a second to see if I recognize him but sadly he is from none of my classes. As I look back a few seconds later my friends are talking about the play. After lunch I went back to class as usual.

Soon it is time for Drama and so I happily walk quite fast to Mrs.Jackson's class exited to see if I got the part. I arrive at the class and everyone is gathered around Mrs.Jackson waiting for everybody to be present so she can say who got what parts. I got the part so I get to be Peter Pan. So today the people who didn't get parts and anyone who wants to help are getting assigned jobs to do.

I notice among us is The beautiful blonde from earlier. He seems to be in charge of makeup a props.He's telling everybody what to bring for props and stuff. Finally he comes to me and introduces himself as Tommy asks if i could bring the whole costume including a fake sword. I obviously said yes cause I was saving money so if I got the part I could buy the costume and stuff. Then after Jobs and stuff were arranged it was time to go.

I got on the bus and spotted Neil. I went to sit next to him and asked "How was school today" "pretty good my teacher said if I do really well this year I might get skipped back up to the proper grade level"Neil replied "Awesome well if you need help on your homework or anything I'm always here to help" "Thanks Adam" Neil smiled.

When we got home we walked into mom passed out drunk on the couch and Dad was in the office working. I picked up mom bridal style hoping she wouldn't wake up and walk toward her and dads room and I opened the door and laid mom under the covers. I pulled the covers to her shoulders and left the room shutting the door softly behind myself.

I walked up to my room and started on my homework. 30 minutes later I heard the soft knock that means all but peace on Neil's bedroom door which was Next to mine as mine which was cracked so I could hear anything going on and make sure Neil was safe. As i got up to go investigate I heard mom yelling "Where did this C come from" and I walked in to see Neil flinching in horror as mom reached out to slap him.

I intercepted just before she got him knowing that would earn me a good beating but as long as Neil was okay I could endure anything for him. She grabbed a belt off Neil's dresser and began to repeatedly hit me with it as Neil watched in horror knowing he couldn't do anything to help.

She finally stopped satisfied with my white now bloody shirt knowing she had left a bunch of bruises along my arms and back. I left Neil's room to go clean up a bit. I took a hot shower and changed into my pajamas for the night then went to bed. I had to sleep on my stomach because it hurts to bad to sleep on my back or side.

I quickly fell asleep as I knew mom should be satisfied with me and not hurt Neil and that he would lock his door before he fell asleep. If your wondering how i got into his room in the morning I have the only key other than the one Neil has.
