phil had just gotten done with a long day at his job. he unlocked the door to his flat and walked into the chilly lounge. phil slouched down onto the couch, dropping his backpack full of his things. he didn't want to go to work tomorrow.

he didn't like it there, he never did really. but that's what paid the bills. he had tried applying to other jobs, but none of them would take him. maybe he just wasn't a "people" person or whatnot. his coworkers always looked down on him, even if he is 6'2. though, phil was used to it.  before he started living on his own, people made fun of him because of some rumors that he was gay. people pushed him around and beat him up because he went to a christian school, none of which he liked. phil tried repressing those memories, but how could he? the name calling, and even some scars were left behind.

phil wanted to do something with his life, not be a barista at your local coffee shop.

phil sighed loudly and got up, walking to his bland bathroom to take out his contacts and shower. the hot steam surrounded him as he pressed his hands to the cold, moist wall tiles. he needed his friend, chris. he had a brotherly love with him, plus he hasn't seen him in a while. he's always stood by him, no matter what. they've been friends since college and used to be flatmates. at least until he met his girlfriend. chris moved out and they've been together ever since.

phil got out of the steamy shower and headed to his bedroom. he sat down on his bed and dried his raven hair with his other towel. phil was about to pick up his clothes from his drawer when his phone started to ring. phil stared at the unknown number but quickly picked up the call.

"hello?" phil says questionably. "hello? we're calling to speak to philip lester?"

phil's eyes widen. besides the man calling him philip, he was nervous. just earlier that week, phil applied for a job at BBC to become a radio host. he's always wanted to do that. was this the call he's been waiting for?

"no- i mean yeah, this is phil lester," phil said, already chewing his nails. "as you may remember, you applied for a job here at BBC and we're glad to say that you've gotten the job!"

phil practically jumped out of his skin at the news. he was so happy, probably the happiest he's been in while.

"really? thank you so much!" phil said excitedly. "thank you!" the man starts, "you start wednesday, is that alright?"

"yes, of course!" phil smiled.

"great, see you then!"

phil couldn't wait till wednesday.
