"Okay, what about this one?" Lydia held a deep blue tank top up against her chest while giving him her best model pose. After the Nogitsune, Allison, Aiden and all the other traumas the McCall pack had faced during the last couple of months, Derek found It unbelievable that shopping was the best solution to deal with the young banshee's grief."It's nice."
He could hear her let out a loud grunt to make sure he knew how annoyed and unsatisfied she was with his answer. "You didn't even look." She looked at the beta standing in front of her and he looked absolutely everywhere but at her. To be true, she thought he looked a little uncomfortable where he stood.
Derek sighed dramatically while taking a look at the top she was still holding up before landing his gaze at her face. "It's nice," he repeated, holding his stern poker face. Lydia found that look annoying. She had always been good at reading people. But Derek Hale? No way.
"You know," she started, turning her back to him to look at herself in a mirror standing behind her, "I really regret not forcing Malia or Kira here instead. At least they pretends to be interested in my fashion emergencies," she studied him through the reflection. She met his eyes before he rolled overdramatically around.
"So, after the girls I'm your second choice, huh? Still don't understand what's up with that. Why not spend your time with people you actually enjoy spending time with? Like Scott, or Stiles?" Lydia just sighed before handing him the top in her hands. She kept on walking further into the shop, looking at dresses in all different shapes and colors.
She could feel his eyes on her back, impatiently waiting for her to answer him. Instead she kept on walking. The redhead hummed gently while letting her fingers trace the soft materials as she walked past them.
Lydia suddenly stopped and turned around gracefully, staring her shopping date straight in the eyes. "Have you ever thought of the possibility that I actually do enjoy your company?" her voice was playful, but her heartbeat and that little smile of hers told him she was being sincere. "I mean, even though you don't talk that much. And you have this bad habit of being grumpy and very depressing at times."
"Anyways, Scott and Kira was meeting up today, Stiles was busy doing he's research about the deadpool and your cousin... Well, poor girl has a math test tomorrow and I figured she needed all her time to focus on that," the banshee shrugged. "So, you see? I did ask the so-called people I'd rather be with before asking you," she finished.
Derek didn't really have a response, so he just nodded. He would never admit it out loud, but he did enjoy her company as well. Where there times he wanted to rip her tongue out of her mouth to stop her nonstop babbling? Yes, yes it was. But after spending more and more time with her, her babbling was something he grew used to. And actually grew fond of too.
"I'm glad they were all busy though," the redhead suddenly said, dragging Derek out of his thoughts and back to reality. He looked at her with a raised eyebrow. "Because believe it or not, I actually very much enjoy your company."
He just looked at her, not quite knowing what to say to that. But Lydia just offered him a sweet, little smile before returning all of her attention back to the clothes in front of her. The beta suddenly felt a little uneasy at of her honest, but sweet confession. But he shook it off and went back to his usual attitude. "So, are you done yet? I actually do have other things to attend to than being stuck at this mall for the rest of the day."
"Huh, yeah right. Like what?" she teased, rolling her eyes. Derek did get a little offended by her response, but at the same time, she was actually right to ask because there was nothing for him to attend to other than the comfort of his own home and his books. "I'm soon done. Can you just please try to look like I'm not abusing you here?" she begged, her back still facing him.
He gave a defeated sigh before taking a look at the different prize tags on the different items he was holding. The werewolf had almost forgotten about the mountain of dresses, shirts, tops and skirts Lydia had thrown in his arms. "You're going to buy all of this?" he asked with a hint of disbelief in his voice. "Yes, yes I am," she answered with a slight shrug.
"Honestly now! This one," she showed him a beautiful pearl pink dress with no straps that reached her to about the middle of her thighs, "or this one?" the other she held up was a gorgeous dark green dress made out pure silk that reached her to just below her knees. Both were pretty dresses and both would look absolutely amazing on her, but again, everything looked good on Lydia.
Derek sighed for probably the thousandth time that day. "If I answer you which one, can we please leave this hellhole then?" he pleaded. She rolled her eyes, but answered him with a nod. That was good enough for him. "The green one," he simply said, now very eager to leave. Lydia forced her lips together, taking a look down on both dresses. It didn't look like she agreed with his opinion.
"The green color is a nice match with your red hair," he scratched the back of his neck, looking around the store, not wanting to make any eye contact with her. "And it gets out the color of your eyes," he finished with a defeated voice.
Lydia looked up at him. She looked a little taken aback by his input, but after giving it a thought she gave him a satisfied smile. "That wasn't so hard, now was it?" she walked towards him and patted him gently on the chest. "Lets go pay for all of this and I'll buy you some coffee," Lydia walked over to the checkout with the green dress in her hands.
