"Lynn you forgot your toothbrush!" Lynn spins around on her heel to see her mom frantically waving a toothbrush at the front door. She drops her bag and rushes back up the the steps of her family homes porch.
"Stay safe" Her mom smiles, squeezing Lynns cheek. Lynn chuckles and wraps her arms around her mother. "Don't worry Ill be fine. Bye!" Lynn smiles as she backs away and picks up her bag.
She tosses it into the boot of her car and hops into the drivers seat.
She waves at her mother one last time before putting the key in the ignition and driving the car out of the driveway.
It's a long journey from where she lives to get to New York city, but Lynn doesn't mind. It gives her a reason to blast music on her car stereo for hours on end without any complaints from the neighbours or her family. Lynn always wanted a fresh start. She spent one year in college doing a course she didn't like when she decided to drop out. Her mom was annoyed at first, but let Lynn make her own decisions."I want to do music" Lynn states, after dropping the bomb about leaving college.
Her parents look at one another before sighing. "Lynn, you know how tough the music industry is nowadays.." Her mom says, looking over to her husband for help. "I don't know, it's her life. If she wants to record some sick albums, she can. I just want the best tickets when you play in madison square garden one day, promise?" Her dad beams, smiling up at lynn. Lynn throws herself at her father for the most bone crushing hug that has ever been received. "Thank you thank you thank you thank you"Lynn rolls down her window as the heat in the car gradually increases. She realised that the air conditioning stopped working after an hour of driving. She sees a sign informing her that she has to take a left turn for an exit to get onto the highway to New York City.
She ends up stopping at a gas station that has a cafe inside it, noticing that she hasn't eaten since she deprecated over an hour and a half ago.
She parks the car in a free space and gets out of the car. People would be confused as to how Lynn could wear such dark clothing in such warm weather. Her black jeans and black button up shirt contrast to the bright clothes others are wearing during the summer months. She opens the door of the cafe and feels the blast of cool air hit her, which makes her breath deeply and smile to herself. The place isn't busy, there's only a few people sitting in the cafe as most people come in and leave to go back on their journey. Lynn sees a free seat in the corner which catches her eye immediately. She makes her way to the counter, orders a coffee and patiently waits for the girl to make it. She's young enough, with long black hair and a lip piercing. Pretty.
Lynn thanks her when she hands her the coffee and sits down in the corner seat.
Lynn picks up a magazine that was left on the table. It's about music, which immediately gets her immersed in it.
When she looks up to pick up her coffee, she notices a girl sitting at the table in front of her by herself. They make eye contact, which causes Lynn to awkwardly look away. One glimpse of the girls striking blue eyes caused Lynns heart to flutter. It's what girls do to her.
Lynn looks up again to see that the girl is still looking at her, smiling. Lynn smiles back this time, which causes to girl to raise her eyebrows.
Confused, Lynn points to the empty seat at her table.
The girl smirks and stands up, making her way over to the table and plonking down on the seat.
"Hi" She smiles.
"Hi" Lynn blushes.
"Im Tyler" She extends her arm across the table, which Lynn shakes.
"Lynn" She smiles.
"Where you headed?" She questions, leaning back on the chair.
"New york. And you?" Lynn sips on her coffee, intrigued by the girls beauty.
She has long black wavy hair, piercing green eyes, cute dimples and a nose piercing.
"Me too!" She says excitedly.
"Well I was, until my car completely broke down. I had to hitch hike to get to the nearest gas station." Tyler pouts, folding her arms. Lynn hesitates. "Do you want a ride? I mean a 2 hour long drive can get lonely." Lynn smiles, unsure as to why she invited this complete stranger into her car.
Tyler smirks. "That. would. be. great. Thank you"
