It's been officially three years with out my father. He had disappeared with that cute farmer boy from down the road. I was only fifteen when he left. I didn't know what to do when he didn't come back. But I am now officially eighteen...I am my own person. Needing some time to clear my head I ran to the stables. My father owned a boat down at the lake, I might as well just use it. Saddling up my horse, a piebold stallion called Raphael. But then I remembered where would I keep him. I untied all his gear and fed him quickly. I suppose I could run, I need the exorcise. Grabbing hold of my bow and quiver I ran out side and deep into the forest.

As I reached my father's boat I was gasping for breath and tired. I could see the houses beside the river, a young boy was playing with his brother. That brother I knew all to well, he is a man that has been hitting on me since I could remember. His name was Etowin, he was twenty and what girls could call handsome. I didn't like him at all but he didn't take the hint.

"Oh I didn't see you how are you doing today peaches?" He shouted and I rolled my eyes rushing over to my father's boat. Etowin had always nicknamed me after fruits. Turning around I was engulfed in a hug, I reacted quickly elbowing them. Etowin fell to the ground groaning, clutching his stomach. Sighing I pushed the boat out and hopped on, not looking back. Steering the boat to the very end of the river, remembering a way my father used to take me on fishing trips. A beautiful cove by a island. It was boarded by white sands and nature. But what I don't know is the way. There were two paths I could take. One to the right, it looked stormy and rough to sail in. The leff was pleasant, nice with the waters calm.. the boat went faster for some reason. Taking the wheel I guided the boat to the left. The water stayed calm as my boat drifted through the water. The gentle waves guided my boat to a rough patch. My boat was rocking and tipping to the water. My breath caught in my throat as a wave crashed onto the boat. The wave hit me and I couldn't get back up, I could see a big shadow, but just then I blacked out. The last thing I saw was a massive pair of claws soaring towards me.

*two days later*

I could here the waves crash onto something. My clothes were damp and smelt like salt. Opening my eyes I could see nothing but dark blue. But it wasn't the sky... it seamed like leather. I could barely see through it as I slowly walked closer to it. The 'leather' twitched was I placed my hand on it and it shifted up, showing me light. I could see small waterfalls, Palm trees and a man?

I stumbled into a warm...rock? Turning around I let out a scream as a massive blue Dragon saw looking at me. It looked like a Dragon that my father told me about in tales about riders but it can't be true.I couldn't believe what was in front of me as the man walked towards me. He gave me a smirk and held out his hand, his blue eyes looking at me in a mischievous way.

"I am Eragon and this is Saphira, and you are?" He questioned, I could feel my heart race, I had heard his name before. He is the first of the new riders. My father told me about him. My father told me he had to go on a adventure with him then he went missing. At that time I was fifteen, now I am eighteen. Could it be that my father actually made it on the adventure?

"Olivia Holcombsson..." I mumbled shaking his hand, but his face fell and he looked away.

'Are you the daughter of Brom Holcombsson?' A strong female voice asked in my head.

'Y-yes why?' I asked back and the Dragon whimpered at Eragon.

"Your father... had he told you about the dragon riders?" Eragon asked not looking me in the eye.

"Where is my father!" I demanded stomping my way over to Eragon. I just want to know where he went all this time ago. Eragon reached up to scratch the back of his neck. His face went red as he stuttered out a answer.

"He was... h-he got killed o-on our mission.... three years ago." He backed away with his hands up in front of him. I could feel my heart shatter into a thousand pieces. He died, but he can't have! My father can't have died... I have no one.

Before I knew it I had collapsed to my knees and Eragon rushed to me. Before he could touch me I had lashed out. He was pinned to the floor. My dagger pressed against his throat. He gulped and I could see him trying to calm Saphira as she growled at me.

"Look Olivia I tried to heal him but I was not strong enough! I tried my hardest I really did!" Eragon yelped as he took my arm away from his throat.

"I am sorry but we need to see if you are a rider? So if you would?" He asked standing up and dusting off. Walking over to Saphira he picked up a shiny green rock.... wait that's a egg.

"If you place your hand on it we can see if you are a rider." Eragon explained but I am still confused. How would they know if I am a rider. I slowly placed my hand atop of the cool egg. The feel of the egg was like glass. A warm feeling spread through my hand and a burning sensation made me jerk back.

'Your a rider Olivia, your Dragon just marked you.' Saphira purred in mg head.
