Everyone in the Big Hollywood seemed to be competing with each other. Competing for the throne. Doing everything just to be 'more famous' or 'better' than the others.
Because in this industry, more fame equals more money. More money means more power. And the bigger your power is, the longer you'll stay on the industry. That's the cycle. That also causes the bad blood among celebrities.
This legendary feud would never come to an end. A random YouTuber once said in his documentation about the reason behind me and the who's feud, a video with hundred thousands of views.
"Jennifer Lopez. What do you think of her?"
"What?"
"What do you think about Jennifer Lopez?" the interviewer repeated.
"I don't know her."
I DON'T KNOW HER. And that line will never be forgotten. Especially the people who keeps on bringing it back. Just being the shady bitch she is.
This so called bad blood with Mariah rooted from Tommy Matolla, her ex-husband. Actually they got married in the 90's and split up after a year or two.
And the truth is,
Tommy went to me for something. My manager Benny Medina set me up for him cause what he think is that, Tommy would give me more for my music career because he was a wealthy music producer back then. I don't know how start this but, after he was done with Mariah, I was kind of hooking up with him for my career and fame. He used me and I also benefited from him too for my brand. Just an equal give and take relationship. I was still 'publicly dating' with Diddy while clinging on with Tommy.
When I signed up to him, he changed me. He wanted to make my career as high like Mariah's. He even dressed me up to look like his ex-wife. What he wanted was, to make a better brand out of me in order to downgrade his ex.
And I actually went with it cause why not grab the opportunity? Mariah Carey's name was all over the planet then. She was very famous and was looked upon by millions of people. Then me? To go to her level so to go past her and downgrade her? It was a great challenge and being the competitive type I am, so I did.
I did what I can do to go past above her. I once made a cover of Diana Ross' Do you know where you're going to?, theme song for Mahogany. And later on Mariah backfires and also did a revision of the song herself. But the difference is, hers was a lot more in a different level. I mean, channeling her long airy notes and high whistles? I don't have those. I'm sure she's making sure her version is much better than mine.
People even accused me for stealing one of her songs. The real thing about it is that, Tommy gave her a song entitled "Lover boy" for her Glitter album. But then he gave me somewhat like, the same tune and beat with that. But my next producer decided to change it a little bit and that's how I'm Real got born ft. Ja Rule. It sounded the same as Mariah's.
P.Diddy stole If You had my Love for me from Chante Moore's If I Gave You Love but modified the song a little bit. I got the tune of Get Right from one of Usher's song in his album Confessions entitled "Ride" which wasn't officially released cause I had it and he got mad.
And another song of mine called Ain't it Funny was supposedly for Ashanti. She liked to do it very much but the record was given to me.
I wanted it too but for her to not feel so bad, I just told her to be in that song too. She refused and that's why it was recorded by me and rapper Ja Rule.
Ashanti had her vocals on that song too but I ended up lip synching her part when we shoot the music video of it. She got upset cause she baldy wanted the song herself. So after all those stuffs going on from Chante Moore, Usher and Ashanti, I got labelled as a 'copycat' and has no originality for allegedly "STEALING" other artists' songs.
But I think it's not all my fault. I wanted to blame them all to the producers and record companies cause they were in charge of my music. Now I'm accused for stealing songs and having no originality. That's so awful.
And Mariah got even more furious about me. That was the start. She was so mad at me that she would pretend I don't exist in the industry and that, she doesn't know me until now.
Though we've met many times. She's just forgetful sometimes, I think. I don't know her that well. But I think she should have been angry with Tommy. Not me. Maybe a little bit, but it was very long time ago, we should just have been friends then.
Well some budding celebrities tried to steal from me too. Just like Ariana Grande who stole my iconic hairstyle. I was actually the original of that high ponytail. But now, others would say I'm the one who's copycat. Oh well, just a bunch of uninformed people. Not knowing I was always on that hairstyle since few years start in the industry.
And I've seen a lot of pictures of Ari copying not just my hair, even my outfit and pose acting like she's the original! Who's the copycat now? But anyway I would just keep quiet and don't make it a big deal. I'm just not the kind of person who makes things worse.
I've been in the industry for like over 20 years, yet I can't still please everyone and that's fine with me. There are still a lot of envy and jealousy going on when I'm just doing my thing and minding my own business. There are still a lot of issues.
But what should I do? I just don't care cause each and everyone has their own thing. While me, I'm just doing my JLo thing and my job as a singer, dancer and actress.
I have my own business to do so be it.
Haters gonna hate, TS said.
