It was three o'clock in the afternoon on a random school day in twenty-sixteen. While walking home from school I was halfway home when a black SUV pulled up next to me. At first, I thought they were just parking in front of their friends house, but no one got out. I walked past it as if it wasn't there and continued heading home. Nothing was going to stop me from reaching My bedroom and turning on some video games.
The air became silent. Not a sound from anything. No birds, no wind, no leaves rustling. Just utter silence, leaving me alone in my deepest thoughts. Before I knew it, I could've sworn I saw the black SUV pass me on another street. Whoever was behind the wheel was going way too fast. And then I saw it. The vehicle pulled up on the other side of the street; its tires screeching on the asphalt as it came to a sudden halt after speeding through the neighborhood. It honked at me twice. My adrenaline spiked and fight or flight immediately kicked into overdrive.
My feet started moving quicker than I had time to process but just as I took the first few steps, suddenly, I stopped. Frozen my tracks. Why was I stopped? Something was telling me not to move, something was telling me that I had to see who was in this vehicle. Strange isn't it? I was supposed to be fleeing the scene to avoid being kidnapped and instead I was finding it hard to do so. I was curious. I slowly turned back towards the SUV, staring at it without moving another muscle.
The silence was deafening. I could hear my heartbeat in my head. I opened my mouth and then the window rolled down on the passenger side. In the driver's seat sat a woman with long black hair tied up into a neat bun. She had oval shaped sunglasses on so I couldn't identify her completely. All I could see was that she was indeed in a police uniform. Oddly though, her police uniform wasn't like the ones that I've ever seen in my life. Instead, it was a metallic black and her police badge was gold. There was a patch on her left arm, the only arm I had a view of. It was dark red with some gold shades on it shaped like a downward-facing half-circle. The letters printed underneath the half-circle read: F.T.R. B70
The woman, now making full eye contact with me, reached for her door lock and unlocked her doors. Then she looked back at the street behind her and said to me, "You're in danger." I was baffled by her words. What did she mean? How was I in danger? All I've done is try to walk back home from school, in peace. Again, I did hesitate. I shook my head in disapproval at her. She didn't look like a police officer. At least not one that I recognize as one.
"Go away." I responded without hesitation.
"I'm not going to hurt you." She spoke.
"That's what every kidnapper would sa-" I don't get to finish speaking before she replies with such frustration.
"GET IN THE CAR BEFORE I-" she stops.I shoot her a frustrated look, and then I turn away from her and begin to walk. She doesn't chase me at first. Not until a horrific mask-like creature appeared in front of me out of thin air. The face looked like a Halloween mask. Partly cyborg, and partly human. Except the cyborg half was drenched in blood. I scream and fall on my butt.
"What are you!?" I shout, desperately trying to get back into my feet. I noticed his arms were robotic and his hands held sharp objects. I'm able to get to my feet but only by the skin of my teeth. And then I hear the cop dressed lady.
"MAKE YOUR DECISION!" She yelled. Her face looked seriously worried now. Maybe she wasn't lying after all. Although now that I've seen that creature, I'd believe in anything now. I start to sprint and reach the SUV. I get the door open, panicked and out of breath. Before I manage to get my right leg into the vehicle, the creature grabs hold of it and pulls me viciously out of the SUV. It begins to drag me across the cemented sidewalk.
