Freddy and Jason hated each other. There is no confusion on this matter because they did.
It had all started because of a simple dream of Freddy's. He had been stuck in hell and the children of Springwood had found a way to forget about him. He needed someway to scare them into believing in him again so he could come back and continue his work.
Jason had seemed a good candidate for the job. He was strong, eager to kill, and, best of all, easily manipulated. He killed and the children began to believe in Freddy again. Everything seemed to be going his way.
But then it all went wrong. Jason had killed one of Freddy's beloved targets. No one takes what rightfully belongs to Freddy and gets away with it!
And ever since then, Freddy and Jason have been at odds with one another, always fighting, neither ever fully winning. Freddy was stronger in the Dreamworld whereas Jason was stronger in the real world. And since they were both immortal, neither ever stayed dead for long then it was right back to fighting.
And so it was after yet another one of these fights that they made a vow. Each wanted to finally beat the other. And they each promised that one day, he would be the one to win the final battle.
Little did they know, one of them would finally win a fight. It just wasn't the fight either one of them expected....
