nightmares
they're both the same
neither has a beginning
neither really ever ends
your dream begins when you begin to pay attention
when you begin to remember
your dream ends the moment you awake
the moment you choose to press the stop button
. . .
or maybe you only pressed the pause
and your dream is continuing in someone else's mind
and when that person wakes up and does the same
somewhere else
someone else
who has just laid down to sleep
will press play
and continue
