I sat. Waiting patiently for the bell to ring. Jacob was already inside the school because of his team meeting. He plays for the soccer team. I play for the volleyball team. The bell finally rang. I walked in, looking for Jacob.
"Good morning Ms. Shay." Mrs. Afelo greeted,
"Good morning" I smiled back. I quickly went to my locker, I really didn't want to be late for Science. I opened up my locker, pictures of me and Delphi scattered inside. Delphi died a year ago, my best friend died a year ago. I've been surviving loneliness by hanging out with Jacob. I started to forget about him, as I had to be in class right away or Mr. Gelini would send me to help the librarian. Not that that's a bad thing, I just don't wanna do it alone; but I do it alone every time I'm late. Right when I was 10 feet away from the classroom the attendance was already sent,
"Crap" I whispered,
"Late again Ms. Atlas" Mr. Gelini said,
"Yea..." I sighed,
"Library again." he assigned,
"You too Jacob." he added, Jacob? He's here?
"Alright." someone replied behind me. That someone was Jacob. I smiled at him. He smiled at me.
We made it down to the library, Mrs. Sandberg wasn't there, I had forgotten that she doesn't come to work until 10:00.
"What do we do?" Jacob asked,
"I mean I usually hide in the back corner and read a book that me and Delphi wrote together" I answered, I tear fell.
"You haven't told me how Delphi died." Jacob said,
"I did she committed suicide." I replied,
"But why?" Jacob asked, I rolled my eyes at him. But at the same time, I wanted to cry because of the reason she did what she did.
"I don't know." I lied, I did know.
Jacob smiled at me, he knew I was lying but let it slide.
"You wanna go get Tims?" He asked, Tim Hortons was a coffee shop right across the street from mine and Jacob's houses. Even though I knew we were supposed to stay in school campus during school hours, I agreed to to it anyways!
"Sure" I nodded.
Jacob drove me there, I'd expect him to drive by the drive thru to order. But instead he parked in a lot.
"So what do you want?" Jacob questioned.
"Probably a Iced Capp, a large one" I giggled, I seriously new to stop my Capp addiction. Jacob chuckled more than giggled.
"Alright. And in gonna get a Iced Coffee . I'll pay for both of us" he said
"Uh, no. I can pay for myself." I assured, pleading him not to pay for me.
"No it's fine...after all it's hard with your best friend dead, and how she died." Jacob said. I nodded.
"Wait you know the reason?!?" I exclaimed. I thought I was the only one to know Delphi's secret.
"Yea."
