"Nova!" my mother called to me

"Nova!" my mother called to me. "Are you packed yet?!"

"Almost!" I replied, stuffing the last few things into my suitcase and zipping it shut. I sighed, setting my hands on my hips and surveyed my now empty room. We're moving out of our house to move into our brand new Pack's House. We've been living as "rogues" for the past 7 years. Ever since our old Pack went corrupt, my parents decided running away was the best option for us. Mostly for my safety. What I'm worried about is that people might make fun of me for being an ex-rogue. Rogues don't exactly have the best reputation around here. Or, anywhere, for that matter.

"I want my walls to be blue." I told my dad. He smiled down at me, ruffling my hair a bit. "Alright, Captain." he joked, leaving my room to go to the garage, getting the paint I presume. I glanced out the small window, a big oak tree residing just outside. I noticed two squirrels scurrying around and chasing each other around the wide trunk with acorns stuffed in their cheeks, chittering away. The sight brought a grin to my face, and my attention was directed back to my dad once he came in with two buckets of paint. He handed me a brush and popped the lid of the paint off. "Did you get the tarp ready?" he asked me, kneeling on one knee. Woops, I forgot. "No, I forgot." I laughed nervously, going into the corner of the room and unrolling the tarp that my mom had gotten the previous day. I spread it on the floor beneath the area we would be painting.

"Joel, Nova! Lunch is ready!" I heard my mom hum as she walked in with homemade sandwiches on a plate. I smiled, and went over to her, grabbing a sandwich and heading back to the wall. "Wanna help us paint?" I offered, holding up an extra brush. "I would, sweetie, but the dishes need to be done." she said with an apologetic expression. I shrugged. "Thanks for the lunch." I smiled, taking a bite as I dipped the brush into the blue paint, and spreading it across the wall to inflict a blue line. The first of many.

I smiled at the flashback of when we first bought the house. I was 10 at the time. I glanced over at the wall, still blue as ever. I took a small breath before heading downstairs, my suitcase clunking obnoxiously with every step. There I saw my mom and dad talking in the kitchen, a granola bar halfway in my dad's mouth. I shook my head with a smirk, as I rolled the suitcase behind me to join them. My mom peered around my dad's shoulder, smiling at me. "Ready?" she asked. I nodded. "Yep!"

As we drove along a long strip of barren road, I managed to nod off and catch a few winks of sleep before we arrived. "Nova, honey. We're here." I felt my mom's hand on my knee, shaking slightly. I opened an eye tiredly, lifting my head off of the window and peering out to see a massive estate. My eyes widened, and I was awake now, excitement flourishing within me. Once we rolled into the wide driveway, I noticed a few men standing outside, seemingly waiting for us. My dad parked the car in a random spot, and we opened the doors to be met with a crisp, cool gust of wind. I inhaled the scent, and exhaled, going to the trunk and popping it open. We took our suitcases out and headed toward the fancy double doors. It felt like we were tourists on vacation, and the valet would come and take our car- and of course they have someone to take the car.

"Welcome, Osbourne family. We have been expecting you." a man greeted us at the doors.

Yeah not the best, but it'll get better.

..I hope.
