August 25

It's the weekend now after seemingly never-ending hours at the cursed thing called "school". All the other students get to go through it like a piece of cake.I really hate the fact that some just don't care about their education.  Meanwhile, there's my situation I have to go through.

Having seven periods and going from 7:00am to 3:00pm is not the best thing. What made me put myself through an absolute hell, you ask? To put things simply, I have three AP classes: chemistry, calculus AB and psychology. In addition to that, I have two dual enrollment classes: english 101/103 and history 101/103. On top of all that, I'm in my school's top jazz band and symphonic band as well as being active in Key club. It's barely the beginning and I'm already getting tired. They were right when they said junior year would be hard but it would all be worth saving time and money for college.

I went over towards the PS3 on the desk next to the TV, turning the on button before ejecting the disk compartment and placing Black Ops 2 inside. I couldn't quite remember how long it had been but I was really looking forward to how pleased I would feel after playing a couple quick matches.

I took a seat on the blue bean bag chair in front of my bed and threw my hair in a high ponytail, adjusting my shorts and the loose Beatles shirt I had on.

As I grabbed my controller a loud ding came from my phone just as the home screen of the game loaded.

I couldn't help but laugh as I reached to my left to click the answer with video option. I was then greeted with the shiny smile of my best friend from middle school.

It had been a couple months since we last talked. We go to different schools far away from one another. Often we're too caught up with activities to even socialize. Video chats became a rare treat and June always changed her appearance each time. This time her hair was a bright red, her locks long and curly. I couldn't tell if she was going for an Ariel or Merida look this time.

She looked to the camera, waving frantically. "Hey Aria! How's life? Any updates?"

"I've been okay but I'm sure my heart is doing terrible." I said as I glanced to the floor.

"Girl! Is there someone I need to beat up? I will fuck up the person who dares to mess with you. I can't tolerate my best friend's feelings getting hurt. It's not your blood pressure again, right?"

I laughed and smiled sadly. "No, it's Lance. He broke up with me more than a month ago. He's talking to Joy again. I don't blame him, she's pretty after all.  I guess I wasn't good enough..." I muttered as I fiddled with my fingers.

June looked to me with reassurance. "Ari, you are drop dead gorgeous. Don't let one guy's actions determine how your self esteem should sit at. There are so many guys out there who could treat you like a queen, who would be willing to worship you. I'm more than positive that there's a better guy or maybe even a girl who will love you with everything they got. Just watch, there will be a new person walking into your life real soon."

I tried to keep it in me but a few tears managed to drip down my face. "June, I don't know what to do. We were so close to a year but suddenly he left me for Joy and her looks. The one who caused him so much pain."

June grabbed her controller and pointed at it, flashing a smile. "Let's kill a hoard of zombies together. I'm sure that will cheer you up."

I picked up my controller and nodded before entering the room. We waited about five minutes until we were placed in a match with two other skull players.

I never felt so relieved as I ran around the map, shooting each and every zombie that came my way. With June at my side, our party could last up to more than 15 rounds all together. Don't even get me started on the ray guns.

While we slayed all the undead creatures, both of us ranted about our past relationships.

"Who needs some lying, cheating girl!" June said as she shot down five zombies.

"Who needs some moth boy!" I said as I boarded up some windows.

"We don't need a man or woman to be happy~ We have each oth- Ri! Cover me! Right now! I'm gonna die!" June screamed on the other side of the call.

I quickly sprinted to her side and threw a grenade before the round ended with a bang.

"We did it, Ri! A new record!"

We both laughed and laid back to recover from all the button mashing we did to make it that far.

Temporarily, I was left with the thought of finding someone better. Someone who I could completely trust, who I could genuinely love. Someone who would love me for who I am.

Two hours passed and soon enough June had to go offline. My support line had disappeared and I reverted back to my negative self. I sighed and shut off the system before climbing into bed. I shut my eyes, shaking my head in disbelief. I was never going to find a replacement. I wasn't going to find a guy like him ever again but maybe someone even better.
