Time for active duty ...
That afternoon he faced his advisor. "Son, it'll be a long haul and officers will be needed ... Stay your course." Stone stared at the advisor and then chose his own road. President George W. Bush's vow to win the war against terrorism set Stone on a whirlwind path toward Afghanistan.
On October 7 while Anne fumed of missed tailgating parties, Operation Enduring Freedom bombed Al-Qaeda and Taliban forces. To expedite Stones' transition from reserve to active duty military, he agreed to finish his bachelor's degree. Within six months, he'd be commissioned as a second lieutenant.
