mars was home sick that day, but mercury still taped the letter to his locker.
that day, when mercury came home, his father had immediately started yelling at him. he'd been hit a few times, he then locked himself into his room. was loving mars wrong? tears had begun to drip down his face, what if mars thought he was a freak and doesn't feel the same? his breath hitched at that thought, the thought of his best friend, the one he loved most, hating him. his father had started banging on the door, yelling at him. when his mom was still around he would actually act like he cared, but now that she left his father had let out his true, awful self. he didn't blame his mom for leaving. mercury knew he was going to come back to school with even more dark blue and violet bruises and scrapes.
