I Didn't Know

Chapter 1 - The Meeting

"I have to go. See you later."

"Ok."

I was at school, getting ready to go home. Something special was happening today. At least my mom thought it was. I was going to meet my new step brother. His name is Darren. Darren goes to law school about an hour away from where I live. I don't like lawyers, they repulse me. Now, I want to be a surgeon. That's a real job. Back to Darren, he never leaves college so this is probably the only time I'll see him. Thank God!

As I steped into the doorway of my house, everyone greeted me. My mom, step dad, Darren, and someone else that I did not recognize was here.

Darren anxiously spoke, "Hey, my name Darren. What's yours?"

In a friendly tone, " My name is Olivia."

We awkwardly shook hands wishing for someone to speak. My mom spoke.

" How about we all go sit on the couch and I will go cook dinner."

We went. I sat next to the stranger.

To break the silence my step dad, Tom, said " So, Darren and Olivia are the same age, right?"

I spat out, "No, Darren is 2 years older than me. I'm a junior in high school."

" Oh. Then your just like James. He's a junior too."

I finally can put a name to his face. Thanks dad.

James mumbled, " Are you 16? Cause I am."

I smirked, " Yes. Twins!"

We both laughed. I was so nervous. I don't know why. Maybe it's his beautiful hazel eyes. They made me melt.

We had meatloaf for dinner. I personally rebuff meatloaf but I forced myself to eat it. It was an infomational dinner. I learned that Darren plays the violin and James is homeschooled but he's moving into town. Infact, he is going to school with me which is really exciting!

I hope I don't blush too hard when James comes around. He's really nice and very attractive. The most important thing of all is that we have most of our classes together. Tomorrow is his first day, can't wait to get to know more about him!
